彼有信而為旅於天主所許之地、如在異邦、居於幕、與後蒙應許之以撒雅各同、

復憑信德、而羇旅於承許之地、與共承恩諾之依灑格雅各伯同寓棚帳之中；

By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise.

Because of his faith he made his home in the land God had promised him. Abraham was like an outsider in a strange country. He lived there in tents. So did Isaac and Jacob. They received the same promise he did.

By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise.

And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith— for he was like a foreigner, living in tents. And so did Isaac and Jacob, who inherited the same promise.

By faith he stayed as a foreigner in the land of promise, living in tents as did Isaac and Jacob, coheirs of the same promise.

By faith he lived as a stranger in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs of the same promise;

后来他从那里迁到伯特利东边的山地，搭起帐棚。西边是伯特利，东边是艾城；他在那里也为耶和华筑了一座祭坛，呼求耶和华的名。

于是，亚伯兰渐渐挪移帐棚，来到希伯仑幔利的橡树附近，在那里居住，也在那里为耶和华筑了一座祭坛。

他们问亚伯拉罕：“你的妻子撒拉在哪里？”他回答：“在帐棚里。”

照样，神定意向那些承受应许的人，更清楚地表明他的旨意是不更改的，就用起誓作保证。

他从南地一站一站往前走，到伯特利去；到伯特利和艾城中间，就是他起先支搭帐棚的地方，

耶和华站在梯子上，说：“我是耶和华你祖父亚伯拉罕的神，也是以撒的神，我要把你现在躺着的这块地赐给你和你的后裔。你的后裔必像地面的灰尘那么多；你必向东、南、西、北扩展；地上的万族必因你和你的后裔得福。

雅各对约瑟说：“全能的神曾经在迦南地的路斯向我显现，赐福给我，对我说：‘我必使你繁衍增多，成为一大族；我必把这地赐给你的后裔，作永远的产业。’

雅各来到基列．亚巴的幔利他父亲以撒那里，基列．亚巴就是希伯仑，是亚伯拉罕和以撒寄居过的地方。

在这里神并没有赐他产业，连立足之地也没有。但神应许把这地赐给他和他的后裔为业，虽然那时他还没有儿子。神就这样说：‘你的后裔必在外地寄居，人要奴役、虐待他们四百年。’

亚伯拉罕赶快进帐棚，到撒拉那里，说：“你快拿三斗细面调和，作些饼。”

耶和华在幔利橡树那里，向亚伯拉罕显现。那时，是一天中最热的时候，亚伯拉罕正坐在帐棚门口；他举目观看，忽然看见三个人在他对面站着；亚伯拉罕看见了，就从帐棚门口跑去迎接他们，俯伏在地，

我要把你现在寄居的地，就是迦南全地，赐给你和你的后裔，作永远的产业，我也要作他们的神。”

你要寄居在这地，我必与你同在，必赐福给你，因为我要把这全地都赐给你和你的后裔，履行我向你父亲亚伯拉罕所起的誓。我必使你的后裔增多，好像天上的星那样多；我必把这全地都赐给你的后裔；地上的万国都必因你的后裔得福。

“我是在你们中间寄居的外族人，求你们在你们中间给我一块坟地作产业，使我可以埋葬我死了的人，使她不露在我面前。”

愿神把应许给亚伯拉罕的福，赐给你和你的后裔，使你可以得着你寄居的地为业，就是神赐给亚伯拉罕的。”

两个孩子渐渐长大；以扫善于打猎，喜欢生活在田野；雅各为人安静，常常住在帐棚里。
