Noah had faith. So he built an ark to save his family. He built it because of his great respect for God. God had warned him about things that could not yet be seen. Because of his faith Noah showed the world that it was guilty. Because of his faith he was considered right with God.

Even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they would save only their own lives by their righteousness, declares the sovereign LORD.

So God said to Noah,“ I have decided that all living creatures must die, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. Now I am about to destroy them and the earth.Make for yourself an ark of cypress wood. Make rooms in the ark, and cover it with pitch inside and out.This is how you should make it: The ark is to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high.Make a roof for the ark and finish it, leaving 18 inches from the top. Put a door in the side of the ark, and make lower, middle, and upper decks.I am about to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy from under the sky all the living creatures that have the breath of life in them. Everything that is on the earth will die,but I will confirm my covenant with you. You will enter the ark– you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you.You must bring into the ark two of every kind of living creature from all flesh, male and female, to keep them alive with you.Of the birds after their kinds, and of the cattle after their kinds, and of every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, two of every kind will come to you so you can keep them alive.And you must take for yourself every kind of food that is eaten, and gather it together. It will be food for you and for them.And Noah did all that God commanded him– he did indeed.The LORD said to Noah,“ Come into the ark, you and all your household, for I consider you godly among this generation.

So the LORD destroyed every living thing that was on the surface of the ground, including people, animals, creatures that creep along the ground, and birds of the sky. They were wiped off the earth. Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark survived.

A shrewd person sees danger and hides himself, but the naive keep right on going and suffer for it.

Even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as surely as I live, declares the sovereign LORD, they could not save their own son or daughter; they would save only their own lives by their righteousness.

Just as it was in the days of Noah, so too it will be in the days of the Son of Man.

The people of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented when Jonah preached to them– and now, something greater than Jonah is here!The queen of the South will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon– and now, something greater than Solomon is here!

and be found in him, not because I have my own righteousness derived from the law, but because I have the righteousness that comes by way of Christ’s faithfulness– a righteousness from God that is in fact based on Christ’s faithfulness.

Through these things the world existing at that time was destroyed when it was deluged with water.

But when he saw many Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them,“ You offspring of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?

Then Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law who were going to marry his daughters. He said,“ Quick, get out of this place because the LORD is about to destroy the city!” But his sons-in-law thought he was ridiculing them.

And he received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised, so that he would become the father of all those who believe but have never been circumcised, that they too could have righteousness credited to them.

“ Come out of the ark, you, your wife, your sons, and your sons’ wives with you.

“ So when you see the abomination of desolation– spoken about by Daniel the prophet– standing in the holy place( let the reader understand),

What shall we say then?– that the Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness obtained it, that is, a righteousness that is by faith,

But the righteousness that is by faith says:“ Do not say in your heart,‘ Who will ascend into heaven?’”( that is, to bring Christ down)

For in those days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark.

During his earthly life Christ offered both requests and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to the one who was able to save him from death and he was heard because of his devotion.

I am going to cause very severe hail to rain down about this time tomorrow, such hail as has never occurred in Egypt from the day it was founded until now.So now, send instructions to gather your livestock and all your possessions in the fields to a safe place. Every person or animal caught in the field and not brought into the house– the hail will come down on them, and they will die!”’”Those of Pharaoh’s servants who feared the word of the LORD hurried to bring their servants and livestock into the houses,but those who did not take the word of the LORD seriously left their servants and their cattle in the field.

And Noah did all that the LORD commanded him.

For the righteousness of God is revealed in the gospel from faith to faith, just as it is written,“ The righteous by faith will live.”

Remember, I have told you ahead of time.

This is the account of Noah. Noah was a godly man; he was blameless among his contemporaries. He walked with God.

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, being convinced of what we do not see.
