昔亞伯具有信德、故其所獻於天主之犧牲、遠勝乎加因之所獻也。彼因是而得稱義、即天主亦嘉納其禮焉。厥後其身雖死、其言不朽者、亦信德之力也。

By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead.

Abel had faith. So he brought to God a better offering than Cain did. Because of his faith Abel was praised as a godly man. God said good things about his offerings. Because of his faith Abel still speaks. He speaks even though he is dead.

By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks.

It was by faith that Abel brought a more acceptable offering to God than Cain did. Abel’s offering gave evidence that he was a righteous man, and God showed his approval of his gifts. Although Abel is long dead, he still speaks to us by his example of faith.

到了收成的時候，該隱把地裡的出產當祭物獻給耶和華，亞伯也把羊群中頭生的羊及其最肥美的部分獻給耶和華。耶和華悅納亞伯和他的祭物，卻不悅納該隱和他的祭物。該隱便非常惱火，面帶怒容。

因此，所有義人在地上所流的血，就是從義人亞伯的血，直到你們在聖所和祭壇之間所殺的巴拉加的兒子撒加利亞的血，都要歸到你們身上。

我們應當彼此相愛，這是你們起初聽見的信息。不要步該隱的後塵。他屬於那惡者，殺害了自己的弟弟。他為什麼要殺害自己的弟弟呢？因為他的行為邪惡，而他弟弟秉行公義。

耶和華說：「你做了什麼事？你弟弟的血從地裡向我哭訴。

還有新約的中保耶穌和祂所流的血。這血比亞伯的血發出更美的信息。

耶和華憎恨惡人的祭物，悅納正直人的祈禱。

他們大禍臨頭了！他們步了該隱的後塵，為謀利而重蹈巴蘭的謬誤，又像可拉一樣因叛逆而滅亡。

惡人的祭物已經可憎，何況他懷著惡意來獻！

該隱對弟弟亞伯說：「我們去田間吧！」他們在田間的時候，該隱動手打亞伯，把他殺了。

有火從耶和華那裡降下來，燒盡祭壇上的燔祭和脂肪。民眾看見這景象，都歡呼起來，俯伏在地。

根據律法，幾乎所有的器具都要用血來潔淨，因為若不流血，罪就得不到赦免。

耶和華對他說：「不會的，因為凡殺你的，必遭受七倍的報應。」於是，耶和華在該隱身上留下一個記號，免得見到他的人殺他。

亞當又與妻子夏娃同房，夏娃生了一個兒子，取名叫塞特，因為她說：「上帝賜我另一個兒子來代替亞伯，因為該隱殺了他。」

既然有這麼多見證人像雲彩一般圍繞著我們，我們就要放下一切重擔，擺脫容易纏累我們的罪，以堅忍的心奔跑我們前面的賽程，

於是，耶和華降火燒盡了祭物、木柴、石頭、塵土，甚至溝裡的水。

他們自稱認識上帝，在行為上卻否認祂。他們令人可憎，悖逆成性，一無是處。
