我们得救是在于盼望；可是看得见的盼望就不是盼望。谁还去盼望他所看得见的呢？

“耶和华啊，求你听我的祷告，侧耳听我的呼求！我流泪，求你不要静默无声！因为在你面前我是客旅，是寄居的，像我列祖一般。

“我在你们中间是外人，是寄居的。请给我你们那里的一块坟地，我好埋葬我的亡妻，使她不在我的面前。”

这些人都是因信获得了赞许，却仍未得着所应许的，

因着信，他离开埃及，不怕王的愤怒，因为他恒心忍耐，如同看见那不能看见的神。

我知道我的救赎主活着，末后他必站在尘土上。

雅各对法老说：“我在世寄居的年日是一百三十年，我一生的岁月又短又苦，比不上我祖先在世寄居的年日。”

这样，你们不再是外人或客旅，是与圣徒同国，是神家里的人了，

亚伯拉罕寿高年迈，安享天年，息劳而终，归到他祖先那里。

耶和华啊，我等候你的救恩。

我实在告诉你们，从前有许多先知和义人要看你们所看的，却没有看见；要听你们所听的，却没有听见。”

论到这救恩，那预先说你们要得恩典的众先知已经详细地搜索查考过，查考在他们心里的基督的灵预先证明基督受苦难，后来得荣耀，是指什么时候，什么样的情况。他们得了启示，知道他们所服事的不是自己，而是你们。那藉着从天上差来的圣灵传福音给你们的人，现在将这些事传给你们；这些事连天使也都切望察看呢！

且满心相信神所应许的必能成就。

他说：“看哪，我老了，不知道哪一天死。现在拿你打猎的工具，就是箭囊和弓，到田野去为我打猎，照我所爱的做成美味，拿来给我吃，好让我在未死之前为你祝福。”

亲爱的，你们是客旅，是寄居的，我劝你们要禁戒肉体的情欲；这情欲是与灵魂争战的。

既然你们称那不偏待人、按各人行为审判人的主为父，就当存敬畏的心，度你们在世寄居的日子。

约瑟对他的兄弟说：“我快要死了，但神必定看顾你们，领你们从这地上去，到他起誓应许给亚伯拉罕、以撒、雅各之地。”

雅各嘱咐众子完毕后，就把脚收在床上断了气，归到他祖先那里去了。

我看见他，却不在现时；我望见他，却不在近处。有星出于雅各，有杖从以色列兴起，必打破摩押的额头，必毁坏所有的塞特人。

以赛亚因看见了他的荣耀，就说了关于他的这话。

权杖必不离犹大，统治者的杖必不离他两脚之间，直等细罗来到，万民都要归顺他。

这一切是以色列的十二个支派。这是他们的父亲对他们所说的话，他按照各人的福分为他们祝福。
