What unto me is the multitude of your sacrifices? saith Jehovah: I have had enough of the burnt- offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he- goats.When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to trample my courts?Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; new moon and sabbath, the calling of assemblies,— I cannot away with iniquity and the solemn meeting.Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth; they are a trouble unto me; I am weary of bearing them.And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you; yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

And every priest indeed standeth day by day ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, the which can never take away sins:

Wherewith shall I come before Jehovah, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt- offerings, with calves a year old?will Jehovah be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my first- born for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth Jehovah require of thee, but to do justly, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with thy God?

And this is my covenant unto them, When I shall take away their sins.

On the morrow he seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold, the Lamb of God, that taketh away the sin of the world!

And ye know that he was manifested to take away sins; and in him is no sin.

which is a figure for the time present; according to which are offered both gifts and sacrifices that cannot, as touching the conscience, make the worshipper perfect,

and to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is much more than all whole burnt- offerings and sacrifices.

Saying above, Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein( the which are offered according to the law),

Take with you words, and return unto Jehovah: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and accept that which is good: so will we render as bullocks the offering of our lips.

I hate, I despise your feasts, and I will take no delight in your solemn assemblies.Yea, though ye offer me your burnt- offerings and meal- offerings, I will not accept them; neither will I regard the peace- offerings of your fat beasts.

nor yet through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption.For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling them that have been defiled, sanctify unto the cleanness of the flesh:

For thou delightest not in sacrifice; else would I give it: Thou hast no pleasure in burnt- offering.

For I desire goodness, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt- offerings.

Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Add your burnt- offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat ye flesh.For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt- offerings or sacrifices:

To what purpose cometh there to me frankincense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt- offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices pleasing unto me.

He that killeth an ox is as he that slayeth a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as he that breaketh a dog’s neck; he that offereth an oblation, as he that offereth swine’s blood; he that burneth frankincense, as he that blesseth an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations:

I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices; And thy burnt- offerings are continually before me.I will take no bullock out of thy house, Nor he- goats out of thy folds.For every beast of the forest is mine, And the cattle upon a thousand hills.I know all the birds of the mountains; And the wild beasts of the field are mine.If I were hungry, I would not tell thee; For the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.
