總之、律法僅為真福之前影、而非真福之實象。故雖歲一獻祭、亦無從使與祭者臻於純全之域也。

The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming— not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship.

這些祭司呢、是用天上之事的仿本和影像去行事奉禮的，（正如摩西將要造帳幕時得了神諭說：『上帝說，你要謹慎，作各樣物件、都要按在山上指示你的模樣去作』）。

這一些原是以後之事的影兒，真體乃是屬基督的。

這一來，一方面因規條之劣弱和無益，先前的條例就被廢掉（律法是未曾叫甚麼事完全及格的）；另一方面，一個較好的指望也就被引進了來，讓我們可以藉着這個來親近上帝。

但基督來到了、做一位已實現的美事之大祭司、卻通過那較大較完全的帳幕、不是人手造的、就是說、不屬於這被創造之世的、進入天上的聖所，

這樣，天上之事的仿本既然必須用這些禮節來潔淨，那天上的本物自然必須用比這些更好的祭獻去潔淨了。

聖靈以此指明：儘先前帳幕還有地位時，進入天上聖所的路總還沒有顯明出來。（那種帳幕原是表樣、象徵這現世時期的）；按這制度，所供獻的禮物和祭物都不能使禮拜的人良知上完全潔淨，

他也不是必須多次地供獻自己、像大祭司每年靠着不是自己的血的、去進入聖所一樣。

再者，所有的祭司、都是天天站着、作事奉的工，屢次供獻同樣的祭物、永不能把罪除掉的祭物。惟獨這一位、卻替罪獻了一次的祭，就永續不斷地坐在上帝的右邊；以後就只期待着、到他的仇敵都被處置做他腳的凳子為止。因為他用一次的供獻、就已使聖別的人永持不變地完全無罪了。聖靈也對我們作證，因為他說：『那些日子以後，主說：我要對他們立的、就是以下這種約：我要頒賜我的律法在他們心上，我要將那些律法寫在他們的心神上』；以後又說：『他們的罪和不法之行為、我決不再記着。』哪裏有赦罪的事，哪裏就不再為罪獻祭了。

其實在這些事上、每年反而使人記起罪來呢；因為公牛和山羊的血是不能把罪除掉的。
