This is why the sky has held back its dew and the earth its produce.

Therefore, because of you the heavens have withheld their dew and the earth its crops.

So because of what you have done, the heavens have held back the dew. And the earth has not produced its crops.

Therefore the heavens above you have withheld the dew, and the earth has withheld its produce.

It’s because of you that the heavens withhold the dew and the earth produces no crops.

So on your account, the skies have withheld the dew and the land its crops.

Therefore, because of you the sky has withheld its dew, and the earth has withheld its produce.

Therefore the heavens above you withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit.

Therefore for your sake the heavens withhold the dew, and the earth withholdeth its fruit.

So on your account, the skies have withheld the dew and the land its crops.

Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed[ from] her fruit.

Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab,“ As certainly as the LORD God of Israel lives( whom I serve), there will be no dew or rain in the years ahead unless I give the command.”

“ The time will come when the skies are shut up tightly and no rain falls because your people sinned against you. When they direct their prayers toward this place, renew their allegiance to you, and turn away from their sin because you punish them,

Listen to the cattle groan! The herds of livestock wander around in confusion because they have no pasture. Even the flocks of sheep are suffering.To you, O LORD, I call out for help, for fire has burned up the grassy pastures, flames have razed all the trees in the fields.Even the wild animals cry out to you; for the river beds have dried up; fire has destroyed the grassy pastures.

I will break your strong pride and make your sky like iron and your land like bronze.

The farmers, too, are dismayed and bury their faces in their hands.Even the doe abandons her newborn fawn in the field because there is no grass.Wild donkeys stand on the hilltops and pant for breath like jackals. Their eyes are strained looking for food, because there is none to be found.”

Therefore, I will take back my grain during the harvest time and my new wine when it ripens; I will take away my wool and my flax which I had provided in order to clothe her.
