In the second year of King Darius, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest:

A message from the Lord came to Haggai the prophet. Haggai gave it to Zerubbabel and Joshua. Zerubbabel was governor of Judah and the son of Shealtiel. Joshua was high priest and the son of Jozadak. The message came on the first day of the sixth month of the second year that Darius was king of Persia. Here is what Haggai said.

In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came by the hand of Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest:

On August 29 of the second year of King Darius’s reign, the Lord gave a message through the prophet Haggai to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Jeshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest.

大流士王第二年九月二十四日，耶和华的话临到先知哈该说：

约萨达的儿子耶书亚和他的弟兄众祭司，并撒拉铁的儿子所罗巴伯与他的弟兄，都起来建筑以色列神的坛，要照神人摩西律法书上所写的，在坛上献燔祭。

百姓到了耶路撒冷神殿的地方。第二年二月，撒拉铁的儿子所罗巴伯，约萨达的儿子耶书亚和其余的弟兄，就是祭司、利未人，并一切被掳归回耶路撒冷的人，都兴工建造；又派利未人，从二十岁以外的，督理建造耶和华殿的工作。

毗大雅的儿子是所罗巴伯、示每。所罗巴伯的儿子是米书兰、哈拿尼雅，他们的妹子名叫示罗密。

耶哥尼雅被掳。他的儿子是撒拉铁、

那时，撒拉铁的儿子所罗巴伯和约撒答的儿子大祭司约书亚，并剩下的百姓，都听从耶和华他们神的话和先知哈该奉耶和华他们神差来所说的话；百姓也在耶和华面前存敬畏的心。

耶和华激动犹大省长撒拉铁的儿子所罗巴伯和约撒答的儿子大祭司约书亚，并剩下之百姓的心，他们就来为万军之耶和华他们神的殿做工。

犹大长老因先知哈该和易多的孙子撒迦利亚所说劝勉的话就建造这殿，凡事亨通。他们遵着以色列神的命令和波斯王居鲁士、大流士、亚达薛西的旨意，建造完毕。

他们是同着所罗巴伯、耶书亚、尼希米、亚撒利雅、拉米、拿哈玛尼、末底改、必珊、米斯毗列、比革瓦伊、尼宏、巴拿回来的。

耶和华说：“所罗巴伯啊，虽然如此，你当刚强！约撒答的儿子大祭司约书亚啊，你也当刚强！这地的百姓，你们都当刚强做工，因为我与你们同在。这是万军之耶和华说的。

同着撒拉铁的儿子所罗巴伯和耶书亚回来的祭司与利未人记在下面：祭司是西莱雅、耶利米、以斯拉、

他收回以色列边界之地，从哈马口直到亚拉巴海，正如耶和华以色列的神藉他仆人迦特希弗人亚米太的儿子先知约拿所说的。

亚撒利雅生西莱雅；西莱雅生约萨答。当耶和华藉尼布甲尼撒的手掳掠犹大和耶路撒冷人的时候，这约萨答也被掳去。

就去见所罗巴伯和以色列的族长，对他们说：“请容我们与你们一同建造；因为我们寻求你们的神，与你们一样。自从亚述王以撒哈顿带我们上这地以来，我们常祭祀神。”

自从我奉派作犹大地的省长，就是从亚达薛西王二十年直到三十二年，共十二年之久，我与我弟兄都没有吃省长的俸禄。

他对我说：“这是耶和华指示所罗巴伯的。万军之耶和华说：不是倚靠势力，不是倚靠才能，乃是倚靠我的灵方能成事。大山哪，你算什么呢？在所罗巴伯面前，你必成为平地。他必搬出一块石头，安在殿顶上。人且大声欢呼说：‘愿恩惠恩惠归与这殿！’”耶和华的话又临到我说：“所罗巴伯的手立了这殿的根基，他的手也必完成这工，你就知道万军之耶和华差遣我到你们这里来了。谁藐视这日的事为小呢？这七眼乃是耶和华的眼睛，遍察全地，见所罗巴伯手拿线铊就欢喜。”

这月二十四日，耶和华的话二次临到哈该说：“你要告诉犹大省长所罗巴伯说：我必震动天地。我必倾覆列国的宝座，除灭列邦的势力，并倾覆战车和坐在其上的。马必跌倒，骑马的败落，各人被弟兄的刀所杀。万军之耶和华说：我仆人撒拉铁的儿子所罗巴伯啊，到那日，我必以你为印，因我拣选了你。这是万军之耶和华说的。”大流士王第二年八月，耶和华的话临到易多的孙子、比利家的儿子先知撒迦利亚，说：

以色列众人将他葬埋，为他哀哭，正如耶和华藉他仆人先知亚希雅所说的话。

约亚拿是利撒的儿子；利撒是所罗巴伯的儿子；所罗巴伯是撒拉铁的儿子；撒拉铁是尼利的儿子；尼利是麦基的儿子；

于是，在耶路撒冷神殿的工程就停止了，直停到波斯王大流士第二年。那时，先知哈该和易多的孙子撒迦利亚奉以色列神的名向犹大和耶路撒冷的犹大人说劝勉的话。于是撒拉铁的儿子所罗巴伯和约萨达的儿子耶书亚都起来动手建造耶路撒冷神的殿，有神的先知在那里帮助他们。当时河西的总督达乃和示他波斯乃，并他们的同党来问说：“谁降旨让你们建造这殿，修成这墙呢？”

七月二十一日，耶和华的话临到先知哈该说：“你要晓谕犹大省长撒拉铁的儿子所罗巴伯和约撒答的儿子大祭司约书亚，并剩下的百姓，说：

省长尼希米和作祭司的文士以斯拉，并教训百姓的利未人，对众民说：“今日是耶和华你们神的圣日，不要悲哀哭泣。”这是因为众民听见律法书上的话都哭了；

省长对他们说：“不可吃至圣的物，直到有用乌陵和土明决疑的祭司兴起来。”

耶书亚生约雅金；约雅金生以利亚实；以利亚实生耶何耶大；

波斯王居鲁士派库官米提利达将这器皿拿出来，按数交给犹大的首领设巴萨。

摩西说：“主啊，你愿意打发谁，就打发谁去吧！”
