主怒奮發、普行下土、主忿震烈、蹂躪敵民、

In wrath you strode through the earth and in anger you threshed the nations.

When you were angry, you marched across the earth. Because of your anger you destroyed the nations.

You marched through the earth in fury; you threshed the nations in anger.

You marched across the land in anger and trampled the nations in your fury.

You march across the earth with indignation; you trample down the nations in wrath.

In indignation You marched through the earth; In anger You trampled the nations.

Thou didst march though the land in indignation; Thou didst thresh the nations in anger.

You march across the earth with indignation; You trample down the nations in wrath.

Thou didst march through the land in indignation, thou didst thresh the heathen in anger.

You furiously stomp on the earth, you angrily trample down the nations.

You marched through the land in wrath. You threshed the nations in anger.

For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel:“ The daughter of Babylon is like a threshing floor When it is time to thresh her; Yet a little while And the time of her harvest will come.”

But they do not know the thoughts of the Lord, Nor do they understand His counsel; For He will gather them like sheaves to the threshing floor.“ Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion; For I will make your horn iron, And I will make your hooves bronze; You shall beat in pieces many peoples; I will consecrate their gain to the Lord, And their substance to the Lord of the whole earth.”

We have heard with our ears, O God, Our fathers have told us, The deeds You did in their days, In days of old:You drove out the nations with Your hand, But them You planted; You afflicted the peoples, and cast them out.For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, Nor did their own arm save them; But it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, Because You favored them.

He also drove out the nations before them, Allotted them an inheritance by survey, And made the tribes of Israel dwell in their tents.

Thus says the Lord:“ For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, Because they have threshed Gilead with implements of iron.

“ Behold, I will make you into a new threshing sledge with sharp teeth; You shall thresh the mountains and beat them small, And make the hills like chaff.

But Sihon would not allow Israel to pass through his territory. So Sihon gathered all his people together and went out against Israel in the wilderness, and he came to Jahaz and fought against Israel.Then Israel defeated him with the edge of the sword, and took possession of his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, as far as the people of Ammon; for the border of the people of Ammon was fortified.So Israel took all these cities, and Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon and in all its villages.For Heshbon was the city of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and had taken all his land from his hand as far as the Arnon.Therefore those who speak in proverbs say:“ Come to Heshbon, let it be built; Let the city of Sihon be repaired.“ For fire went out from Heshbon, A flame from the city of Sihon; It consumed Ar of Moab, The lords of the heights of the Arnon.Woe to you, Moab! You have perished, O people of Chemosh! He has given his sons as fugitives, And his daughters into captivity, To Sihon king of the Amorites.“ But we have shot at them; Heshbon has perished as far as Dibon. Then we laid waste as far as Nophah, Which reaches to Medeba.”Thus Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites.Then Moses sent to spy out Jazer; and they took its villages and drove out the Amorites who were there.And they turned and went up by the way to Bashan. So Og king of Bashan went out against them, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Do not fear him, for I have delivered him into your hand, with all his people and his land; and you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.”So they defeated him, his sons, and all his people, until there was no survivor left him; and they took possession of his land.

Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out, and none came in.And the Lord said to Joshua:“ See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor.You shall march around the city, all you men of war; you shall go all around the city once. This you shall do six days.And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. But the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.It shall come to pass, when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, that all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall down flat. And the people shall go up every man straight before him.”Then Joshua the son of Nun called the priests and said to them,“ Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the Lord.”And he said to the people,“ Proceed, and march around the city, and let him who is armed advance before the ark of the Lord.”So it was, when Joshua had spoken to the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the Lord advanced and blew the trumpets, and the ark of the covenant of the Lord followed them.The armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard came after the ark, while the priests continued blowing the trumpets.Now Joshua had commanded the people, saying,“ You shall not shout or make any noise with your voice, nor shall a word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I say to you,‘ shout!’ Then you shall shout.”So he had the ark of the Lord circle the city, going around it once. Then they came into the camp and lodged in the camp.And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the Lord.

And when He had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, He distributed their land to them by allotment.

“ Moreover You gave them kingdoms and nations, And divided them into districts. So they took possession of the land of Sihon, The land of the king of Heshbon, And the land of Og king of Bashan.You also multiplied their children as the stars of heaven, And brought them into the land Which You had told their fathers To go in and possess.So the people went in And possessed the land; You subdued before them the inhabitants of the land, The Canaanites, And gave them into their hands, With their kings And the people of the land, That they might do with them as they wished.
