对木偶说：“醒起！”对哑巴石像说：“起来！”那人有祸了！这个还能教训人吗？看哪，是包裹金银的，其中毫无气息。

謂木曰寤、謂啞石曰起、其人禍哉、此物豈能垂訓乎、彼飾以金銀、而中無生氣、

木石不能言、有求其起而庇佑者、禍必不遠、維彼偶像、雖飾金銀、不通呼吸、焉能有應、

呼木偶曰、醒歟、呼不能言之石像曰、起歟、斯人禍矣、偶像豈能應應或作垂訓乎、俱飾以金銀者、其中無生氣、其中無生氣或作不通呼吸

Woe to him who says to wood,‘ Come to life!’ Or to lifeless stone,‘ Wake up!’ Can it give guidance? It is covered with gold and silver; there is no breath in it.”

How terrible it will be for the Babylonians! They say to a wooden god,‘ Come to life!’ They say to a stone god,‘ Wake up!’ Can those gods give advice? They are covered with gold and silver. They can’t even breathe.”

Woe to him who says to a wooden thing, Awake; to a silent stone, Arise! Can this teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in it.

What sorrow awaits you who say to wooden idols,‘ Wake up and save us!’ To speechless stone images you say,‘ Rise up and teach us!’ Can an idol tell you what to do? They may be overlaid with gold and silver, but they are lifeless inside.

Woe to him who says to wood: Wake up! or to mute stone: Come alive! Can it teach? Look! It may be plated with gold and silver, yet there is no breath in it at all.

Woe to him who says to a piece of wood,‘ Awake!’ To a mute stone,‘ Arise!’ That is your teacher? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, Yet there is no breath at all inside it.

Woe to him who says to wood,‘ Awake!’ To silent stone,‘ Arise! It shall teach!’ Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, Yet in it there is no breath at all.

Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise! Shall this teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.

The one who says to wood,‘ Wake up!’ is as good as dead– he who says to speechless stone,‘ Awake!’ Can it give reliable guidance? It is overlaid with gold and silver; it has no life’s breath inside it.

Woe to him who says to the wood,‘ Awake!’ or to the mute stone,‘ Arise!’ Shall this teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all within it.

有耳却不能听，口中也没有气息。

他们用金银把它修饰，用钉子和锤子把它钉牢，使它不动摇。

他们把人给他们的公牛牵了来，预备好了，就从早晨直到中午，呼求巴力的名，说：“巴力啊，应允我们吧！”可是没有声音，也没有回应。他们就在所筑的祭坛周围跳舞。到了中午，以利亚嘲笑他们，说：“大声呼求吧，因为他是神，也许他正在默想，或事务繁忙，或正在旅行，或正在睡觉，你们要把他叫醒。”他们就大声呼求，按着他们的规矩，用刀和枪刺自己，直到身体流血。中午过后，他们继续狂呼乱叫，直到献晚祭的时候；可是仍没有声音，没有回应，也没有理睬他们的。

那些偶像镶有经过锤炼的银片，银子是从他施运来的，也有从乌法运来的金子，都是匠人和金匠手作的产品。它们穿着蓝色和紫色的衣服，全都是巧匠的作品。

他用剩下来的一半做了一个神像，就是他雕刻的偶像，他向它俯伏，向它敬拜，又向它祷告，说：“求你救我，因为你是我的神。”

因此，你看，日子快到，我必惩罚巴比伦的偶像；巴比伦全地都必蒙羞，所有被刺杀的人都必倒在境内。

水手都很惧怕，各人向自己的神大声呼求；他们为了减轻船的重量，就把船上的东西抛在海里，可是约拿却下了船舱，躺着熟睡了。

尼布甲尼撒王造了一座金像，高二十七公尺，宽三公尺，竖立在巴比伦省的杜拉平原上。

我们既然是神的子孙，就不应该以为他的神性是好像人用手艺、心思所雕刻的金银石头一样。

人人都是顽梗无知；所有的金匠都因偶像羞愧，因为他们铸造的像都是虚假、没有气息的。

至于偶像，是匠人铸造的，铸匠用金子把它包裹，用银子为它做银链。

愿所有事奉雕刻的偶像的，以虚无的偶像为夸口的，都蒙羞；众神哪！你们都要拜他。

那妇人穿着紫色和朱红色的衣服，佩戴着金子、宝石和珍珠的装饰，手里拿着金杯，盛满了可憎的物，和她淫乱的污秽。

那些从钱袋倒出金子，用天平称银子的人，雇用金匠制造神像；他们向神像又俯伏又叩拜。

因此，各国、各族和说各种语言的人，一听见角、笛、琵琶、弦琴、竖琴和各种乐器的声音，就都俯伏，向尼布甲尼撒王所立的金像下拜。

即或不然，王啊！你要知道，我们决不事奉你的神，也不向你所立的金像下拜。”

竟高抬自己，敌对天上的主，使人把他殿中的器皿拿到你面前来，你和你的大臣、妻妾、妃嫔用这些器皿喝酒；你又赞美那些不能看见、不能听见、什么都不能知道，用金、银、铜、铁、木、石所做的神，却没有把荣耀归给那手中有你的气息，和那掌管你一切命途的神。

我现在下令：无论各国、各族、说各种语言的人，凡说话得罪沙得拉、米煞、亚伯尼歌的神的，必被碎尸万段，他的家也必成为废墟，因为没有别的神能这样施行拯救。”
