但壮士一死就消逝了；人一气绝，他在何处呢？

我知道你要使我归于死亡，到那为众生所定的阴宅。

有名字记录在天上众长子的盛会，有审判众人的神和成为完全的义人的灵魂，

这些人都是存着信心死的，并没有得着所应许的，却从远处观望，且欢喜迎接。他们承认自己在地上是客旅，是寄居的。说这样话的人是表明自己要寻找一个家乡。他们若想念所离开的家乡，还有回去的机会。其实他们所羡慕的是一个更美的，就是在天上的家乡。所以，神并不因他们称他为神而觉得羞耻，因为他已经为他们预备了一座城。

于是耶和华带他到外面，说：“你向天观看，去数星星，你能数得清吗？”又对他说：“你的后裔将要如此。”

但他的弓仍旧坚硬，他的手臂灵活敏捷，这是因雅各的大能者的手，从那里，他是以色列的牧者，以色列的磐石。你父亲的神必帮助你；全能者必赐福给你：天上的福，深渊下面蕴藏的福，以及生育哺养的福。你父亲的福胜过我祖先的福，直到永世山岭的极限。这些福必降在约瑟的头上，临到那与兄弟有分别之人的头顶上。

你必寿高年迈才归坟墓，好像禾捆按时收藏。

“主啊，如今可以照你的话，容你的仆人安然去世；

约书亚对众百姓说：“看哪，这石头可以向我们作见证，因为它听见了耶和华所吩咐我们的一切话；这石头将向你们作见证，免得你们背叛你们的神。”于是约书亚解散百姓，各自回到自己的地业去了。这些事以后，耶和华的仆人，嫩的儿子约书亚死了，那时他一百一十岁。

雅各叫了他的儿子来，说：“你们都来聚集，让我把你们日后要遇到的事告诉你们。
