When Jacob had finished giving instructions to his sons, he drew his feet up into the bed, breathed his last and was gathered to his people.

約瑟有信、臨終時、言及以色列裔之將去此、且以己之骸骨囑之、

義者云亡、無人介意、仁者逝世、無人思及、善人脫於患難、彼獲平康、凡躬行正直者、必安寢於其柩、○

雅各遂下埃及、與我祖俱終焉、

以實瑪利享壽一百三十七歲、氣絕而終、歸於列祖、

壽高年邁、氣絕而終、歸於列祖、其子以掃雅各葬之、

惟人死而僵、其氣既絕、則安在哉、

我知爾必致我於死、入為羣生所定之室、

諸長子會咸集、即名錄於天者、暨鞫眾之上帝、並義人得完全之靈、

此皆有信而死、未得所許、惟遙望而迎之、自謂在世為賓旅、為寄寓者、夫如是言者、明表其尋求家鄉也、若念所出之地、必有機可歸、惟其所慕者尤善、即在天者、故上帝不恥稱為彼之上帝、蓋曾為之備邑焉、○

遂攜之出、曰、仰觀於天、眾星可核數乎、又曰、汝苗裔必如是、

然其弓堅勁、其臂健捷、惟賴雅各全能之主、其為牧者、以色列之磐石、由之而出、彼為爾父之上帝、必輔助爾、全能之主、必錫嘏爾、賜以上天之祜、源泉之澤、產育乳哺之福、汝父所祝之嘏、愈於吾祖所祝之嘏、如岡陵之恆久、如山嶽之高大、悉歸約瑟之首、臨乎冠昆弟者之頂、

爾壽滿盈、始歸墳墓、譬諸禾束、屆期蓋藏、

主乎、今乃如爾言、釋爾僕安然而逝、

謂民曰、耶和華諭我之言、此石悉聞之、可對我為證、必為爾證、免爾違爾上帝、約書亞遂遣眾各歸其業、○此後、耶和華僕嫩之子約書亞卒、年百有十歲、

雅各召諸子曰、爾其會集、我以日後所遇之事告爾、
