於是到了撒瑪利亞的一座城，名叫敘加；這城靠近雅各給他兒子約瑟的那塊地。

以色列人從埃及帶出來的約瑟骸骨，葬在示劍的一塊田裡；這塊田是雅各從前用一百塊銀子向示劍的父親哈抹的子孫那裡買來的；這塊田就成了約瑟子孫的產業。

卻要承認他不喜愛的妻子的兒子為長子，把所有的產業分兩份給他，因為這兒子是他強壯有力的時候所生的頭生子，長子的權利本是屬於他的。

主耶和華這樣說：“你們按著以色列十二支派分地為業，要照著這些地界：約瑟要得雙份。

現在耶和華以色列的神，已經把亞摩利人從他的子民以色列人面前趕走了，你竟要佔有這地嗎？

到了第四代，他們必回到這裡，因為亞摩利人的罪孽還沒有滿盈。”

奪去他們的羊群、牛群和驢，以及城裡和田間所有的，

我不是在他們面前把亞摩利人消滅了嗎？亞摩利人雖像香柏樹高大，像橡樹那樣堅固；我卻要滅絕它樹上的果子，拔除樹下的根。

猶大在自己的兄弟中是最強盛的，領袖也是從他而出，但是長子的名分卻歸約瑟）：

他支搭帳棚的那塊地，是他用一百塊銀子向示劍的父親哈抹的子孫買來的。

約瑟的子孫對約書亞說：“耶和華這樣賜福我們，我們族大人多，你為甚麼只給我們抽一份籤，分一份地作產業呢？”約書亞對他們說：“如果你們族大人多，又嫌以法蓮山地過於窄小，就可以上森林區去，在比利洗人和利乏音人之地那裡自己砍伐樹木。”約瑟的子孫回答：“那山地容不下我們，並且住在谷地的所有迦南人，就是住在伯．善和屬於伯．善的市鎮的人，以及住在耶斯列谷的人，都有鐵車。”約書亞對約瑟家，就是對以法蓮人和瑪拿西人說：“你們族大人多，勢力強大，不可以只抽一份地業；山地也要歸給你們，那裡雖然是森林，你們可以砍伐，開闢的土地都歸給你們，直到它最遠的邊界；迦南人雖然擁有鐵車，勢力強大，你們也能把他們趕出去。”
