And his father refused, and said, I know[ it], my son, I know[ it]: he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.

父不許、曰、吾子、我知之矣、此子亦必成為一族、且復昌大、惟季必越於長、其裔成為羣族、

父不許、曰、吾子、我知之矣。此子亦將昌大、為一族之祖、惟季必超越於長、其裔必為群族祖。

父不許曰、我子、我知之矣、此子亦將為一族之祖、亦必昌大、惟其弟將較彼更大、必為多族之祖、

But his father refused and said,“ I know, my son, I know. He too will become a people, and he too will become great. Nevertheless, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his descendants will become a group of nations.”

But his father wouldn’t do it. He said,“ I know, my son. I know. He too will become a nation. He too will become great. But his younger brother will be greater than he is. His children after him will become a group of nations.”

But his father refused and said,“ I know, my son, I know. He also shall become a people, and he also shall be great. Nevertheless, his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his offspring shall become a multitude of nations.”

But his father refused.“ I know, my son; I know,” he replied.“ Manasseh will also become a great people, but his younger brother will become even greater. And his descendants will become a multitude of nations.”

But his father refused and said,“ I know, my son, I know! He too will become a tribe, and he too will be great; nevertheless, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his offspring will become a populous nation.”

But his father refused and said,“ I know, my son, I know; he also will become a people and he also will be great. However, his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his descendants shall become a multitude of nations.”

His father refused, and said,“ I know, my son, I know. He also will become a people, and he also will be great. However, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his offspring will become a multitude of nations.”

His glory[ is like] the firstling of his bullock, and his horns[ are like] the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they[ are] the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they[ are] the thousands of Manasseh.

The LORD your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye[ are] this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.

And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of[ his] venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.

The LORD shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father’s house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah;[ even] the king of Assyria.

And his host, and those that were numbered of them,[ were] forty thousand and five hundred.And by him[ shall be] the tribe of Manasseh: and the captain of the children of Manasseh[ shall be] Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.And his host, and those that were numbered of them,[ were] thirty and two thousand and two hundred.

And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid[ it] upon Ephraim’s head, who[ was] the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh’s head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh[ was] the firstborn.

And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.

Of the tribe of Zabulon[ were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph[ were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin[ were] sealed twelve thousand.
