以色列的儿子们答应了。约瑟遵照法老的吩咐，为他的弟兄们预备好车辆和路上需用的粮食，

吩咐你的弟兄从埃及带着车去把他们的妻子、儿女和你们的父亲接来。

雅各听了他们转述约瑟的话，又看见约瑟派来接他的车，才回过神来。

法老把摩西召来，对他说：“去吧，带着你们的妇女和孩子去事奉耶和华吧，但你们要把牛羊留下。”

我们要带走所有的牲畜，一只蹄子也不留下，因为我们要从其中选一些来献给我们的上帝耶和华。我们抵达目的地前，还不知道把哪些献给祂。”

从此以后，雅各和其他先祖们便定居埃及，直到去世。

雅各便起来让儿女和妻子都骑上骆驼，带着他在巴旦·亚兰得到的所有牲畜和财物，启程去迦南的父亲以撒那里。
