I will go down to Egypt with you, and I will surely bring you back again. And Joseph’s own hand will close your eyes.”

約瑟伏在他父親的臉上哭，和他親嘴。

看吧，我和你同在，你無論往哪裏去、我必保護你；我必領你回此地來；我必不離棄你，直到我作成了我對你所應許過的事。』

我下來、是要援救他們脫離埃及人的手，領他們出那地，上美好寬闊之地，流奶與蜜之地，迦南人、赫人、亞摩利人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人的地方。

以色列對約瑟說：『看吧，我快要死了，但上帝必與你們同在；必領你們回到你們列祖之地。

「我父親叫我起誓說：看吧，我快要死了；你要將我埋葬在我自己的墳墓、就是在迦南地我為自己所開掘的：是在那裏你要將我埋葬的」：現在請讓我上去埋葬我父親，我就要回來的。』

但現在呢、雅各啊，那創造你的永恆主、以色列啊，那形成你的主、這麼說：『你不要懼怕，因為我贖回了你；我呼喚你的名召了你；你是我的。你從水中經過，我必與你同在；你逿過江河，水不漫過你；你從火中行過，必不被燙傷，火燄也不着在你身上。

約瑟對他弟兄們說：『我快要死了；但上帝必定眷顧你們，領你們從這地上去、到他所起誓應許給亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各的地。』約瑟叫以色列的子孫起誓、就說：『上帝必定眷顧你們；你們要把我的骸骨從這裏搬上去。』

兒子們把他運到迦南地，將他埋葬在麥比拉田地間的洞裏；那洞和田地是亞伯拉罕向赫人以弗崙買來做產業為墳地的；是在幔利東面。

他們所要服事的那國、我也要懲罰；後來他們要帶着大量財物、從那裏出來。至於你呢，你卻要安安然然地歸回你列祖那裏，得享長壽，受人埋葬。到了第四代，他們必回到此地來，因為亞摩利人的罪孽還沒有貫滿。』
