猶大謂父以色列曰、遣童子偕我、我儕即起而往、爾與我儕及我子女、皆可保全、不至死亡、

犹大又对他父亲以色列说：“你打发童子与我同去，我们就起身下去，好叫我们和你，并我们的妇人孩子，都得存活，不至于死。

Then Judah said to Israel his father,“ Send the boy along with me and we will go at once, so that we and you and our children may live and not die.

又曰、我聞伊及有榖、爾可下彼為我糴之、以保生命、免於死亡、

有一臣對王曰、城中以色列眾幾乎滅盡、馬亦若是、所遺無幾、莫若取馬五匹、遣人往探之、

我儕對曰、我不可往、若季弟偕往則可、若季弟不偕往、不得見其人之面、

爾曹毋懼、我必供養爾、及爾子女、於是約瑟以善言慰藉之、

如言入城、則城中絕糧、絕糧或作饑甚我必死於彼、如坐於此亦必死、不如往亞蘭營而投降、如存我生則生、如殺我則死而已、

我在亞哈瓦河濱、宣令禁食、使眾在我天主前、齋戒刻苦、祈求天主、使我儕及子女與凡所有、俱得坦途、

願流便生而不死、人數不寡、○

當敬爾父母、使爾可久居於爾天主耶和華所賜爾之地、

我不至於死亡、必得存活、我將述說主之作為、

我命爾當如是行、由伊及地取車輛、載爾妻子、迎爾父來此、

約瑟家屬及其諸兄弟、與父之家屬俱往、獨留孩稚牛羊於歌珊地、

曰我幼子必不可與爾同往、蓋其兄已死、惟彼獨留、若在爾所行之途遇害、則爾使我皓首悲慘歸示阿勒、

爾之幼稚、爾言將被擄者、我必導之入、使彼得識爾所藐視之地、
