那时，埃及的掌权者是约瑟，他卖粮给那地所有的人。约瑟的哥哥们来了，脸伏于地，向他下拜。

约瑟收聚了埃及地和迦南地能找到的所有银子，就是众人用来买粮的银子；约瑟把那些银子都交到法老家。当埃及地和迦南地的银子用尽之后，所有的埃及人都来到约瑟那里，说：“求你给我们粮食吧！难道银子用完了，我们就要死在你面前吗？”约瑟说：“如果银子用完了，可以把你们的牲畜带来。我就给你们粮食，来换你们的牲畜。”于是，他们把牲畜带到约瑟那里，约瑟就给他们粮食，来换他们的马匹、羊群、牛群和驴。那一年，约瑟就给他们提供粮食，换了他们所有的牲畜。那一年过后，次年他们又来到约瑟那里，对他说：“不瞒我主，我们的银子用尽了，牲畜也归了我主；除了我们的身体和土地以外，我们在我主面前一无所剩。难道我们和我们的地要在你眼前消亡吗？求你用粮食买我们和我们的地，我们连人带地都必成为法老的奴仆；又求你给我们种子，使我们得以存活，不至于死，地也不至于荒芜。”于是，约瑟为法老买了埃及所有的地，因为饥荒重压埃及人，他们各人都卖了自己的地。这样，埃及所有的地就都成为法老的了；至于埃及边界一端到另一端的所有百姓，约瑟都使他们成了奴隶。只有祭司的地，约瑟不买，因为祭司有来自法老的定额粮；他们可以吃法老所给的定额粮，所以不用卖自己的地。约瑟对百姓说：“看哪，我今日为法老买了你们和你们的地。看，这些是给你们的种子，你们可以种地了。到了收获的时候，你们要把收成的五分之一交给法老，五分之四归你们自己，作为田里的种子以及你们、你们家人和孩子的食物。”

因为那日子将要临到所有住在全地面上的人。

到了七十年结束的时候，耶和华必眷顾提尔。那时提尔必重操旧业，与地上的万国交易。

他从一个人造出人类万族，使他们住在整个地面上，预先设定了他们的年限和所住的疆界，
