在那些來買五穀的人中間，有以色列的兒子們也來要買，因為在迦南地也有饑荒。當時治理埃及地的執政者就是約瑟；賣糧食給那地的眾民的就是他。約瑟的哥哥們來了，就面伏於地向約瑟下拜。

那隨後上來的、又枯瘦又醜陋的母牛是七年；那枯瘦的被熱東風吹焦了的七個穗子也是七年：都是七年饑荒。

隨後另有七隻母牛從尼羅河上來，體格醜陋、肌細肉瘦，在尼羅河岸上、站在那些母牛旁邊。那些體格醜陋、肌細肉瘦的母牛、把那七隻體格俊秀的肥母牛都喫下去；法老就醒了。

他說：『𠺶，我聽說在埃及有穀子；你們下那裏去，從那裏給我們買，我們就可以活着，免得死。』

但是饑荒在那地很嚴重。

當時遍地都沒有食物，因為饑荒非常嚴重；埃及地和迦南地在饑荒之下都餓昏了。

隨後又發生了七個穗子，又細瘦，又被熱東風吹焦了。這些細瘦的穗子把那七個又肥又飽滿的穗子吞下去；法老就醒了，啊，原來是個夢。
