Joseph named his firstborn Manasseh and said,“ It is because God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father’s household.”

Joseph named his first son Manasseh. That’s because he said,“ God has made me forget all my trouble and my father’s whole family.”

Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh.“ For,” he said,“ God has made me forget all my hardship and all my father’s house.”

Joseph named his older son Manasseh, for he said,“ God has made me forget all my troubles and everyone in my father’s family.”

Joseph named the firstborn Manasseh and said,“ God has made me forget all my hardship and my whole family.”

Joseph named the firstborn Manasseh;“ For,” he said,“ God has made me forget all my trouble and all of my father’s household.”

Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh:“ For God has made me forget all my toil and all my father’s house.”

And Joseph called the name of the first- born Manasseh: For, said he, God hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father’s house.

For his anger lasts only a brief moment, and his good favor restores one’s life. One may experience sorrow during the night, but joy arrives in the morning.

May the firstborn of his bull bring him honor, and may his horns be those of a wild ox; with them may he gore all peoples, all the far reaches of the earth. They are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh.

let them drink and forget their poverty, and remember their misery no more.

Whoever pronounces a blessing in the earth will do so in the name of the faithful God; whoever makes an oath in the earth will do so in the name of the faithful God. For past problems will be forgotten; I will no longer think about them.

For I will not be hostile forever or perpetually angry, for then man’s spirit would grow faint before me, the life-giving breath I created.

“ Now, as for your two sons, who were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came to you in Egypt, they will be mine. Ephraim and Manasseh will be mine just as Reuben and Simeon are.

But seven years of famine will occur after them, and all the abundance will be forgotten in the land of Egypt. The famine will devastate the land.

Joseph positioned them; he put Ephraim on his right hand across from Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh on his left hand across from Israel’s right hand. Then Joseph brought them closer to his father.Israel stretched out his right hand and placed it on Ephraim’s head, although he was the younger. Crossing his hands, he put his left hand on Manasseh’s head, for Manasseh was the firstborn.

Listen, O princess! Observe and pay attention! Forget your homeland and your family!

Joseph said to his father,“ Not so, my father, for this is the firstborn. Put your right hand on his head.”But his father refused and said,“ I know, my son, I know. He too will become a nation and he too will become great. In spite of this, his younger brother will be even greater and his descendants will become a multitude of nations.”So he blessed them that day, saying,“ By you will Israel bless, saying,‘ May God make you like Ephraim and Manasseh.’” So he put Ephraim before Manasseh.

Then you turned my lament into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and covered me with joy.
