使人窮乏、使人富裕、使人卑微、使人高顯、此非耶和華所主乎。舉貧賤者於塵埃、升匱乏者於糞壤、使坐於民牧間、致得榮位、蓋大地之基屬耶和華、使宇宙立於其上。

耶和華試之、屆頒詔之時、災害乃免兮、王為民牧、詔命釋之兮、俾治其家、理其國兮、彈壓群臣、訓迪長老、悉隨其意兮。

撫恤之、使其位高出於同在巴比倫列王之右、更易其衣、每食與共、以畢其生。

凡在郇邑、哀哭者使不蒙塵、而冠花冠、不喪膽、不殷憂、懽然頌美、若沐以膏油、若被以麗服、譬彼茂林、耶和華所植、以彰其榮、

越三日后衣朝服、進深宮、入內院、至殿前、王坐於堂上。

掃羅孫米非波設亦至迓王、彼自王出亡及王安歸、不治其足、不飾其鬚、不澣其衣。

木底改知此、自裂其衣、衣麻蒙灰、徧行邑中、大聲哀哭。至御閽前因衣麻不可入。詔至各州、猶大人禁食哀哭、衣麻蒙灰甚眾。后之侍女內豎以告后、后甚憂、賜木底改衣、使去其麻、木底改不受。

法老速召摩西亞倫曰、我獲罪於爾之上帝耶和華、亦獲罪於爾。

選民曰、我之上帝耶和華、錫我純嘏、加我仁義、若衣麗服、若被長衣、譬彼新娶者、冠以美冠、譬彼新婦、飾以實物、我蒙福祉、不覺踊躍、欣喜不勝。
