不要步該隱的後塵。他屬於那惡者，殺害了自己的弟弟。他為什麼要殺害自己的弟弟呢？因為他的行為邪惡，而他弟弟秉行公義。

弓箭手兇猛地攻擊他，惡狠狠地射他。

恨弟兄姊妹的人活在黑暗中，走在黑暗中，不知何去何從，因為黑暗弄瞎了他的眼睛。

從前我們也愚蠢、悖逆、易受迷惑，受各種私慾和享樂的驅使，心裡充滿了嫉妒和惡念，令人憎惡，也彼此憎恨。

無故恨我的人不計其數，無故害我的仇敵勢力強大，逼我償還我沒有偷過的東西。

卻不悅納該隱和他的祭物。該隱便非常惱火，面帶怒容。

約瑟的哥哥們嫉恨他，他父親卻把這些話記在心裡。

耶西就派人去叫他回來。他面色紅潤，眉清目秀，相貌英俊。耶和華說：「就是他，起來膏立他吧。」撒母耳就拿出盛膏油的角，當著他哥哥們的面膏立他。從那天起，耶和華的靈降在大衛身上。事後，撒母耳回拉瑪去了。

「如果世人恨你們，要知道，他們恨你們以前已經恨我了。如果你們屬於這個世界，世人一定會愛你們。可是你們不屬於這世界，我已經把你們揀選出來，因此世人恨你們。

我的仇敵勢力強大，無故恨我的人不計其數。

約瑟做了一個夢，並告訴了哥哥們，他們更恨他了。

耶穌的弟弟們對祂說：「離開這裡，去猶太過節吧，好讓你的門徒在那裡也看見你所做的啊！因為人想出名，都不會暗地裡行事，你既然可以做這些事，就把自己顯給世人看吧！」原來連祂的弟弟們也不信祂。

約瑟的哥哥們遠遠看見他走來，趁他還沒有到跟前，就合謀要害死他。他們彼此商量說：「看！做夢的來了。來吧！我們殺了他，把他扔在井裡，就說有野獸把他吃掉了，看他的夢怎麼實現。」呂便聽後想救約瑟的性命，就說：「我們不要害他性命。」他又說：「不要殺人流血，把他扔在這口井裡吧，不要下手害他。」呂便想救約瑟，把他交回給父親。這時候，約瑟來了，他們就脫去他身上的彩衣，把他扔到井裡。當時，那口井是乾的，沒有水。
