All his sons and daughters came to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted.“ No,” he said,“ I will continue to mourn until I join my son in the grave.” So his father wept for him.

All Jacob’s other sons and daughters came to comfort him. But they weren’t able to. He said,“ I will continue to mourn until I go down into the grave to be with my son.” So Joseph’s father mourned for him.

曰我必不使幼子與爾偕往、其兄已亡、彼即㷀然、如途間遭害、則我皓然白首、淒涼歸墓、皆爾之過也。

家之長老至其前、欲扶而起之、大闢不從、亦不偕食。

約百有友三人、提幔人以利法、書亞人必達、拿馬人鎖法、聞約百遭難、彼此相約、各自其地至、欲解其憂、慰其心、

耶和華曰、在拉馬聞悲泣、哀哭、重憂之聲、拉結氏哭子、以無存故、而不納慰。

余遭難求主、雖至中夜、舉手不息、不敢稍以自慰兮、

我曰、我儕素篤實、非偵者。

曰足矣、我子約瑟尚在、我未死、必往見之。

以色列居彼、聞流便烝其妾辟拉。雅各有十二子、流便、西面、利未、猶大、以薩迦、西布倫、利亞所出。約瑟、便雅憫、拉結所出。但納大利、拉結婢辟拉所出。伽得亞設、利亞婢悉帕所出、是皆雅各於巴坦亞蘭所生。○

一子尚存、今爾欲攜之去、設遭災害、是使我皓然白首、淒涼歸墓。今歸見吾主之僕我父、而季弟不與我偕、將若何。況父惜季弟如命。既見其不同歸、父必死、如是僕將使吾主之僕我父、皓然白首淒涼歸墓。

拉班曰、斯女即我女、斯子即我子、斯畜即我畜、凡所見者、無非屬於我、今與吾女及其所生者、將何為乎。
