他們坐下來喫飯，舉目看看，忽見有一隊以實瑪利人從基列來，他們的駱駝馱着香料、乳香、沒藥，要帶下埃及去。

基土拉給他生了心蘭、約珊、米但、米甸、伊施巴、和書亞。

米甸人把約瑟賣到埃及，賣給法老的內臣、護衛長波提乏。

米甸的祭司有七個女兒；她們來打水，打滿了槽，要給她們父親的羊羣喝。

在那些被刺死的人以外、他們還殺了米甸的五個王、以未、利金、蘇珥、戶珥、利巴，又用刀殺了比珥的兒子巴蘭。以色列人擄了米甸人的婦女和小孩，又把他們所有的牲口、畜羣、和資財都掠劫了來。

說：『你們願意給我甚麼，我就把他送交給你們？』他們就秤了三十錠銀子給他。

『你要在米甸人身上報以色列人的仇，然後被收殮歸你族人。』摩西告訴人民說：『要從你們中間把人武裝起來去打仗，好攻擊米甸人，而在米甸人身上施行永恆主的報罰。

於是我對他們說：『你們若以為好，就給我工價；不然，也就罷了。』他們就稱了三十錠銀子、作為我的工價。永恆主吩咐我說：『要把人所給你估價的高貴價銀投入銀庫』。我便將那三十錠銀子投在永恆主殿中銀庫裏。

這就應驗了那由神言人耶利米所說的話，說：『他們取了那三十錠銀子，被估價的人的價銀，就是以色列人中所估價的，

基甸又對他們說：『我可有一個要求要求你們；你們各人請將所掠得的金環給我；（原來仇敵都帶金環，因為他們是以實瑪利人）。

洶湧的駱駝必遮滿着你，米甸和以法的獨峰駝必遍佈於你境內。示巴的眾人都必來到；帶着黃金和乳香而來，也必將永恆主可頌可讚的事傳為好消息。

那個被擊殺的米甸女人名叫哥斯比，是蘇珥的女兒；這蘇珥是米甸那裏一個父系家屬的族長。

以色列人對基甸說：『你既拯救了我們脫離米甸人的手，願你管理我們，你的兒子孫子也管理我們。』

求你待他們如西西拉、如耶賓、在基順的急流河；

『你要擾害米甸人，擊殺他們；
