就給那地方起名叫伯特利；那城的名字原來叫做路斯。

我所立為聖柱的這根石頭就必做上帝的殿；凡你所賜給我的、我必將十分之一獻與你。』

約瑟家也上去攻打伯特利；永恆主和他們同在。約瑟家打發了人去窺探伯特利。那城從前名叫路斯。偵探看見一個人從城裏出來，就對他說：『請把進城的路指示我們，我們就恩待你。』那人把進城的路指示他們，他們就用刀擊殺了城裏的人，但將那人和他全家放走。那人往赫人之地去，建造了一座城，起它起名叫路斯；直到今日、那城還叫這名。

雅各對約瑟說：「全能的上帝在迦南地的路斯向我顯現，給我祝福，

從那裏他又往前進，到伯特利東邊的山搭帳棚。西邊是伯特利，東邊是艾，在那裏他又給永恆主築了一座壇，呼求永恆主的名。
