Then they set out, and the terror of God fell on the towns all around them so that no one pursued them.

爾所至之地、我必使其民悚懼、潰亂特甚、與爾敵者、無不敗北。

鄰國畏耶和華、不敢與約沙法戰。

約但西、亞摩哩列王、及海濱迦南列王、風聞其事、知耶和華於以色列族前、使水盡涸、待民悉濟、則喪其膽、毫無銳氣、懼以色列族。○

耶和華眷祐善人、俾惡者悚然畏懼兮、

謂其人曰、耶和華曾以此地錫爾、我所素知、斯土之人懼爾、甚至喪膽、爾出埃及時、耶和華使紅海水涸、約但東亞摩哩王西宏及噩、為爾殲滅、我所風聞。我聞之喪膽、毫無銳氣、不敢敵爾、蓋爾上帝耶和華、乃天上地下之上帝、

我必為爾驅除其民、恢廓爾境、我為爾之上帝耶和華、爾必覲我、歲凡三次、於此時必無人覬覦爾地。

爾之上帝耶和華必應前言、使爾所至之地、其民驚懼、不能捍禦。○

以東諸伯必觳觫、摩押英豪必戰慄、迦南居民必喪膽。無不驚駭、爾施厥能敵不敢動、屹然如石、待耶和華所得之民經其地。

敵之軍旅、以及鄉民、防禦之兵、流亡之寇、無不戰慄、地亦震動、上帝使之。

取雙牛剖之、遣使者攜至以色列族四境、告眾曰、不從掃羅撒母耳而出者、當剖爾牛、亦若此例。民畏耶和華而出。咸懷一心。

其臘四境、慄慄危懼、畏耶和華不敢禦敵、故以色列族擊之、所獲不可勝計。

雅各謂西面利未、曰、爾曹累我、令我遺臭於迦南比哩洗地、且我寡彼眾、必聚而攻我、殲吾家室。
