雅各非常害怕，並且着急，就把跟隨他的人口、和羊羣、牛羣、駱駝、分做兩營；

若不是我父親的上帝，亞伯拉罕的上帝，以撒所敬畏的，與我同在，你如今必定打發我空手回去的。但是我的苦情和我親手所勞碌的，上帝都看見了，所以他昨夜指正你。』

在你一切所行的路上、你都要認定他，他就使你的路徑平直。

只剩下雅各自己一人，有一個人來同他摔跤，直到天快亮的時候。

看吧，我和你同在，你無論往哪裏去、我必保護你；我必領你回此地來；我必不離棄你，直到我作成了我對你所應許過的事。』

哦，錫安裏的人民、住在耶路撒冷的人哪，你一定不必再哭；他一定因你的哀呼聲來恩待你；他聽見時就要應你。

於是他們在急難中喊求永恆主援救他們脫離他們的窘迫；

在患難的日子你要呼求我，我便救拔你；你就榮耀我。』

我愛永恆主，因為他聽我懇求的聲音。他既傾耳聽我，我活着的日子總要呼求。

我要拿燔祭進你的殿，向你還我所許的願，就是急難時我嘴脣所發，我口中所說出的。

他做了一個夢，見有一道臺階立在地上、其上頭頂着天；竟有上帝的使者在臺階上上上下下呢。看哪，永恆主站在他旁邊，說：『我是永恆主，你祖父亞伯拉罕的上帝，以撒的上帝；你所躺臥的地我要賜給你和你的後裔。

上帝是我們的避難所、我們的力量、我們患難中的幫助、隨時隨地可得到的。

哦，永恆主啊，我真是你的僕人；我是你僕人，你婢女的兒子；綁我的繩索、你給我解開了。我要將感謝之祭獻與你，稱揚永恆主的名。我要在他眾民面前向永恆主還我所許的願；

雅各許願說：『上帝如果與我同在，在我所走的這路上保護我，給我食物喫、衣服穿，使我安安然然回到我父親家裏，永恆主就必做我的上帝，我所立為聖柱的這根石頭就必做上帝的殿；凡你所賜給我的、我必將十分之一獻與你。』

我的心哪，你要祝頌永恆主；我的全內臟啊，你要祝頌他的聖名。我的心哪，你要祝頌永恆主；不可忘記他的一切恩待：他赦免了你的一切罪孽，他醫治了你的一切病症，他贖救了你的性命免下冥坑，他以堅愛和憐憫做你的冠冕，他用美物滿足你的心願，以致你如鷹、恢復青春的活力。

但願人因永恆主的堅愛而稱謝他；因他向人類所行的奇事而頌讚他。

他向我呼求，我就應他；他在患難中、我必和他同在；我必救拔他，使他尊貴。

給我敞開眾洗德門哦，好讓我進去、稱讚永恆主。這是永恆主的正門；義人要進去。我稱謝你，因為你應了我，成了我的救星。匠人所棄掉的石頭，已成了房角石的頭一塊。
