耶和華對雅各說：「你要回你祖、你父之地，到你親族那裏去，我必與你同在。」

雅各就甚懼怕，而且愁煩，便把那與他同在的人口和羊羣、牛羣、駱駝分做兩隊，

若不是我父親以撒所敬畏的神，就是亞伯拉罕的神與我同在，你如今必定打發我空手而去。神看見我的苦情和我的勞碌，就在昨夜責備你。」

在你一切所行的事上都要認定他，他必指引你的路。

只剩下雅各一人。有一個人來和他摔跤，直到黎明。

並要在患難之日求告我；我必搭救你，你也要榮耀我。

我要用燔祭進你的殿，向你還我的願，就是在急難時我嘴唇所發的、口中所許的。

夢見一個梯子立在地上，梯子的頭頂着天，有神的使者在梯子上，上去下來。耶和華站在梯子以上，說：「我是耶和華－你祖亞伯拉罕的神，也是以撒的神；我要將你現在所躺臥之地賜給你和你的後裔。

神是我們的避難所，是我們的力量，是我們在患難中隨時的幫助。

耶和華啊，我真是你的僕人；我是你的僕人，是你婢女的兒子。你已經解開我的綁索。我要以感謝為祭獻給你，又要求告耶和華的名。我要在他眾民面前，在耶和華殿的院內，在耶路撒冷當中，向耶和華還我的願。你們要讚美耶和華！

雅各許願說：「神若與我同在，在我所行的路上保佑我，又給我食物吃，衣服穿，使我平平安安地回到我父親的家，我就必以耶和華為我的神。我所立為柱子的石頭也必作神的殿；凡你所賜給我的，我必將十分之一獻給你。」

我的心哪，你要稱頌耶和華！凡在我裏面的，也要稱頌他的聖名！我的心哪，你要稱頌耶和華！不可忘記他的一切恩惠！他赦免你的一切罪孽，醫治你的一切疾病。他救贖你的命脫離死亡，以仁愛和慈悲為你的冠冕。他用美物使你所願的得以知足，以致你如鷹返老還童。

但願人因耶和華的慈愛和他向人所行的奇事都稱讚他；

他若求告我，我就應允他；他在急難中，我要與他同在；我要搭救他，使他尊貴。

給我敞開義門；我要進去稱謝耶和華！這是耶和華的門；義人要進去！我要稱謝你，因為你已經應允我，又成了我的拯救！匠人所棄的石頭已成了房角的頭塊石頭。
