我們要像陰間一樣生吞他們，整個吞沒他們，使他們如墜入墳墓的人；我們必得到各樣寶物，把戰利品裝滿我們的房屋。

耶穌回答說：「我實實在在地告訴你們，你們找我，並不是因為看見了神蹟，而是因為你們有餅吃，並且吃飽了。不要為那必壞的食物勞苦，要為那存到永生的食物，就是人子要賜給你們的食物勞苦，因為父上帝把這權柄交給了人子。」

一個名叫底米丟的銀匠以製造亞底米女神銀龕為業，使從事這門生意的工匠獲利豐厚。他召集了工匠和同行的人，說：「各位都知道我們靠這一行發財，可是你們都看到了，也聽見了，那個保羅在以弗所和亞細亞全境說服、誤導了許多人，說什麼人手所造的不是神。

別為錢財耗盡心力，要明智，適可而止。錢財眨眼之間消逝無蹤，它必長出翅膀如鷹飛去。

其實敬虔和知足才是真正的財富，因為我們空手來到世上，也要空手離開。只要有吃有穿，就該知足。那些渴望發財的人卻陷入誘惑、網羅和許多愚蠢有害的慾望中，以致落入敗壞和滅亡中。貪財是萬惡之根，有人因為貪財就離棄了信仰，結果飽嚐種種錐心般的痛苦。

忠信的人必大蒙祝福，急於發財的難免受罰。

又對賣鴿子的說：「把這些東西拿出去！不要把我父的殿當作市場。」
