以撒四十歲時娶利百加為妻。利百加是巴旦‧亞蘭地的亞蘭人彼土利的女兒，是亞蘭人拉班的妹妹。

於是到了撒瑪利亞的一座城，名叫敘加，靠近雅各給他兒子約瑟的那塊地。

你起身往巴旦‧亞蘭去，到你外祖父彼土利的家，從你舅父拉班的女兒中娶一位作你的妻子。

以掃見以撒已經為雅各祝福，而且送他往巴旦‧亞蘭去，在那裏娶妻，並且見以撒祝福雅各的時候吩咐他說：「不要娶迦南的女子為妻」，又見雅各聽從父母的話往巴旦‧亞蘭去了，

雅各從巴旦‧亞蘭回來，神又向他顯現，賜福給他。

這是利亞在巴旦‧亞蘭為雅各所生的兒孫，還有女兒底拿，兒孫共三十三人。

約翰也在靠近撒冷的哀嫩施洗，因為那裏水多，眾人都去受洗。
