I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar and where you made a vow to me. Now leave this land at once and go back to your native land.’”

耶和華命雅各曰、當歸父家、返故族、我必祐爾。

遂禱曰吾祖亞伯拉罕之上帝、吾父以撒之上帝耶和華、昔命我回故土、故族、許以恩待、

夢有梯、自地參天、上帝之使者、陟降於上。耶和華據其巔曰、我乃爾祖亞伯拉罕與以撒之上帝耶和華、爾所寢之地、悉以賚爾、爰及苗裔。爾裔繁衍如塵沙、蔓延四方、天下兆民、憑藉爾裔、以徼福祉。我必祐爾、爾所向往、我必庇護、使歸斯土、不汝遐棄、吾所許者、必踐其言。○雅各醒曰、耶和華果在乎此、而我不知。乃悚然曰、此非上帝之殿、天之闕乎、敢弗寅畏。雅各夙興、以所枕石立為柱、沃膏其上。昔斯邑名路斯、雅各易之曰、伯特利。遂許願曰、如上帝眷佑我、庇護我、我所向往、賜以衣食、安然而歸、則耶和華必為我之上帝。且我立柱石將為上帝殿、上帝所錫我者、十輸其一、獻於上帝。

昔雅各避兄以掃、上帝顯現、故在彼築壇、名其地曰益伯特利。
