I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar and where you made a vow to me. Now leave this land at once and go back to your native land.’”

於是永恆主對雅各說：『你要回你祖宗之地，到你親族那裏；我必與你同在。』

雅各說：『永恆主，我祖亞伯拉罕的上帝，我父以撒的上帝啊，你曾對我說：「回你本地、你本親族那裏去；我要好待你。」

他做了一個夢，見有一道臺階立在地上、其上頭頂着天；竟有上帝的使者在臺階上上上下下呢。看哪，永恆主站在他旁邊，說：『我是永恆主，你祖父亞伯拉罕的上帝，以撒的上帝；你所躺臥的地我要賜給你和你的後裔。你的後裔必像地上的塵沙那麼多；你必向西向東向北向南突破疆界；地上萬宗族必用你的名和你後裔的名給自己祝福。看吧，我和你同在，你無論往哪裏去、我必保護你；我必領你回此地來；我必不離棄你，直到我作成了我對你所應許過的事。』雅各睡醒了來，就說：『永恆主居然在這地方，我竟不知道啊！』就起了敬畏的心、說：『這地方何等可畏啊！這不是別的；這就是上帝的殿！這就是天門！』雅各清早起來，拿放在頭底下的石頭立為聖柱，澆油在那上頭。就給那地方起名叫伯特利；那城的名字原來叫做路斯。雅各許願說：『上帝如果與我同在，在我所走的這路上保護我，給我食物喫、衣服穿，使我安安然然回到我父親家裏，永恆主就必做我的上帝，我所立為聖柱的這根石頭就必做上帝的殿；凡你所賜給我的、我必將十分之一獻與你。』

他在那裏築了一座祭壇，就給那地方起名叫伊勒伯特利，因為他逃避他哥哥那時候，上帝是在那裏向他顯示的。
