雅各聽見拉班的眾子談論，說：“雅各把我們父親所有的都奪去了，他這一切財物，都是從我們父親的財產那裡得來的。”

雅各聞拉班眾子言曰、我父所有者、雅各盡奪之、因父之資、獲此榮盛、

拉班眾子相議曰、我父所有者、而雅各奪之、因致巨富。雅各聞之、

拉班眾子議曰、我父所有者、盡為雅各所奪、彼藉我父所有者獲此巨富、雅各聞之、

Jacob heard that Laban’s sons were saying,“ Jacob has taken everything our father owned and has gained all this wealth from what belonged to our father.”

Jacob heard what Laban’s sons were saying.“ Jacob has taken everything our father owned,” they said.“ He has gained all this wealth from what belonged to our father.”

Now Jacob heard that the sons of Laban were saying,“ Jacob has taken all that was our father’s, and from what was our father’s he has gained all this wealth.”

But Jacob soon learned that Laban’s sons were grumbling about him.“ Jacob has robbed our father of everything!” they said.“ He has gained all his wealth at our father’s expense.”

Now Jacob heard what Laban’s sons were saying:“ Jacob has taken all that was our father’s and has built this wealth from what belonged to our father.”

Now Jacob heard the words of Laban’s sons, saying,“ Jacob has taken away all that was our father’s, and from what belonged to our father he has made all this wealth.”

Now Jacob heard the words of Laban’s sons, saying,“ Jacob has taken away all that was our father’s, and from what was our father’s he has acquired all this wealth.”

And he heard the words of Laban’s sons, saying, Jacob hath taken away all that was our father’s; and of that which was our father’s hath he gotten all this glory.

Now Jacob heard what Laban’s sons were saying:“ Jacob has taken all that was our father’s and has built this wealth from what belonged to our father.”

And he heard the words of Laban’s sons, saying, Jacob hath taken away all that[ was] our father’s; and of[ that] which[ was] our father’s hath he gotten all this glory.

Jacob heard that Laban’s sons were complaining,“ Jacob has taken everything that belonged to our father! He has gotten rich at our father’s expense!”

Jacob heard Laban’s sons’ words, saying,“ Jacob has taken away all that was our father’s. He has obtained all this wealth from that which was our father’s.”

我看見各樣的勞碌和各樣精巧的工作，都是出於人與人彼此的競爭。這也是虛空，也是捕風。

我家裡的人若沒有說：‘誰能找出哪一個沒有飽吃他的肉食的呢？’

我們從前也是無知、不順服、受了迷惑、被各種私慾和逸樂所奴役，生活在惡毒和嫉妒之中，是可憎可惡的，並且互相仇視。

烈怒雖然兇殘，暴怒又好像狂瀾，人還可以忍受；但面對嫉妒，誰能站立得住呢？

哈曼把他的富貴榮華、兒女的眾多，以及王怎樣使他尊大，怎樣抬舉他在王的眾領袖和眾臣僕之上的一切事，都數說給他們聽。

心裡平靜，可使身體健康；但嫉妒能使骨頭朽爛。

耶和華這樣說：“智慧人不可誇耀自己的智慧，勇士不可誇耀自己的勇力，財主不可誇耀自己的財富。

我躺臥在獅子中間，就是在那些想吞滅人的世人中間；他們的牙齒是槍和箭，他們的舌頭是快刀。

他們磨快自己的舌頭，如同刀劍；他們吐出惡毒的言語，好像利箭，要在暗地裡射殺完全的人；他們忽然射殺他，毫不懼怕。

別人發財，家室增榮的時候，你不要懼怕。因為他死的時候，甚麼也不能帶走；他的榮華也不能隨他下去。

你們也要把我在埃及的一切尊榮，和你們所看見的一切，都告訴我的父親，又要趕快把我的父親接到這裡來。”

他是自高自大，一無所知，反而專好問難爭辯，由此產生妒忌、紛爭、毀謗、惡意的猜疑，

故此，陰間擴張它的咽喉，張大它的口，沒有限量；耶路撒冷城的榮耀（“榮耀”或譯：“貴族”）、群眾、喧嚷的人和在城中作樂的人，都要下到陰間。

詭詐的舌頭啊！他要給你甚麼呢？他要加給你甚麼呢？就是勇士的利箭，和羅騰木燒的炭火。我寄居在米設，住在基達的帳棚中，有禍了。

因為“所有的人（“人”原文作“肉體”），盡都如草，他們的榮美，都像草上的花；草必枯乾，花必凋謝，

如果他說：‘有斑點的算是你的工資’，羊群所生的全部都有斑點；如果他說：‘有條紋的算是你的工資’，羊群所生的全部有條紋。這樣，神把你們父親的牲畜奪來，賜給我了。

“‘凡引用俗語的，必用這俗語指著你說：有其母，必有其女。

最後，魔鬼帶耶穌上了一座極高的山，把世界各國和各國的榮華都指給他看。

耶和華啊！求你用手救我脫離世人，脫離那些只在今生有分的世人。求你用你為他們儲存的充滿他們的肚腹，使他們的兒女都可以飽嘗，他們還有剩餘的留給他們的子孫。

我若以黃金為我所信靠的，又對精金說：‘你是我所靠賴的’；我若因為財物豐裕，或因為我多獲財利而歡喜；
