The God of peace will quickly crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.

So the dragon became enraged at the woman and went away to make war on the rest of her children, those who keep God’s commandments and hold to the testimony about Jesus.

But when the appropriate time had come, God sent out his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

You people are from your father the devil, and you want to do what your father desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not uphold the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of lies.

For this reason the sovereign master himself will give you a confirming sign. Look, this young woman is about to conceive and will give birth to a son. You, young woman, will name him Immanuel.

He was despised and rejected by people, one who experienced pain and was acquainted with illness; people hid their faces from him; he was despised, and we considered him insignificant.But he lifted up our illnesses, he carried our pain; even though we thought he was being punished, attacked by God, and afflicted for something he had done.

Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, he likewise shared in their humanity, so that through death he could destroy the one who holds the power of death( that is, the devil),and set free those who were held in slavery all their lives by their fear of death.

“ Look! The virgin will conceive and bear a son, and they will call him Emmanuel,” which means“ God with us.”

The field is the world and the good seed are the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one,

and said,“ You who are full of all deceit and all wrongdoing, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness– will you not stop making crooked the straight paths of the Lord?

Listen: You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus.He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David.He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will never end.”Mary said to the angel,“ How will this be, since I have not had sexual relations with a man?”The angel replied,“ The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be holy; he will be called the Son of God.

Then war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back.But the dragon was not strong enough to prevail, so there was no longer any place left in heaven for him and his angels.So that huge dragon– the ancient serpent, the one called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world– was thrown down to the earth, and his angels along with him.Then I heard a loud voice in heaven saying,“ The salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the ruling authority of his Christ, have now come, because the accuser of our brothers and sisters, the one who accuses them day and night before our God, has been thrown down.But they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.Therefore you heavens rejoice, and all who reside in them! But woe to the earth and the sea because the devil has come down to you! He is filled with terrible anger, for he knows that he only has a little time!”Now when the dragon realized that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child.

And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet are too, and they will be tormented there day and night forever and ever.

The LORD made a reliable promise to David; he will not go back on his word. He said,“ I will place one of your descendants on your throne.

Look, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions and on the full force of the enemy, and nothing will hurt you.

So the LORD sent poisonous snakes among the people, and they bit the people; many people of Israel died.Then the people came to Moses and said,“ We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD and against you. Pray to the LORD that he would take away the snakes from us.” So Moses prayed for the people.

So I will assign him a portion with the multitudes, he will divide the spoils of victory with the powerful, because he willingly submitted to death and was numbered with the rebels, when he lifted up the sin of many and intervened on behalf of the rebels.”

How long will you vacillate, you who were once like an unfaithful daughter? For I, the LORD, promise to bring about something new on the earth, something as unique as a woman protecting a man!’”

Therefore it says,“ When he ascended on high he captured captives; he gave gifts to men.”

Disarming the rulers and authorities, he has made a public disgrace of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

I will not speak with you much longer, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no power over me,but I am doing just what the Father commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Get up, let us go from here.”

Now who is the person who has conquered the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

So the LORD will hand the people of Israel over to their enemies until the time when the woman in labor gives birth. Then the rest of the king’s countrymen will return to be reunited with the people of Israel.

Then Jesus went out and made his way, as he customarily did, to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him.When he came to the place, he said to them,“ Pray that you will not fall into temptation.”He went away from them about a stone’s throw, knelt down, and prayed,“ Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me. Yet not my will but yours be done.”[Then an angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.And in his anguish he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.]

Day after day when I was with you in the temple courts, you did not arrest me. But this is your hour, and that of the power of darkness!”

Do not be afraid of the things you are about to suffer. The devil is about to have some of you thrown into prison so you may be tested, and you will experience suffering for ten days. Remain faithful even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown that is life itself.

Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be driven out.And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”( Now he said this to indicate clearly what kind of death he was going to die.)

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.After he fasted forty days and forty nights he was famished.The tempter came and said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become bread.”But he answered,“ It is written,‘ Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”Then the devil took him to the holy city, had him stand on the highest point of the temple,and said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down. For it is written,‘ He will command his angels concerning you’ and‘ with their hands they will lift you up, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’”Jesus said to him,“ Once again it is written:‘ You are not to put the Lord your God to the test.’”Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their grandeur.And he said to him,“ I will give you all these things if you throw yourself to the ground and worship me.”Then Jesus said to him,“ Go away, Satan! For it is written:‘ You are to worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”

Then I saw an angel descending from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the abyss and a huge chain.He seized the dragon– the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan– and tied him up for a thousand years.The angel then threw him into the abyss and locked and sealed it so that he could not deceive the nations until the one thousand years were finished.( After these things he must be released for a brief period of time.)

but did not have marital relations with her until she gave birth to a son, whom he named Jesus.

For since he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.

During his earthly life Christ offered both requests and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to the one who was able to save him from death and he was heard because of his devotion.

And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High. For you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways,

The beast was permitted to go to war against the saints and conquer them. He was given ruling authority over every tribe, people, language, and nation,

Then I saw another great and astounding sign in heaven: seven angels who have seven final plagues( they are final because in them God’s anger is completed).Then I saw something like a sea of glass mixed with fire, and those who had conquered the beast and his image and the number of his name. They were standing by the sea of glass, holding harps given to them by God.They sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb:“ Great and astounding are your deeds, Lord God, the All- Powerful! Just and true are your ways, King over the nations!Who will not fear you, O Lord, and glorify your name, because you alone are holy? All nations will come and worship before you for your righteous acts have been revealed.”After these things I looked, and the temple( the tent of the testimony) was opened in heaven,and the seven angels who had the seven plagues came out of the temple, dressed in clean bright linen, wearing wide golden belts around their chests.

Offspring of vipers! How are you able to say anything good, since you are evil? For the mouth speaks from what fills the heart.

You snakes, you offspring of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?

May Dan be a snake beside the road, a viper by the path, that bites the heels of the horse so that its rider falls backward.

But when he saw many Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them,“ You offspring of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?

“ Their throats are open graves, they deceive with their tongues, the poison of asps is under their lips.”

Even if they were to hide on the top of Mount Carmel, I would hunt them down and take them from there. Even if they tried to hide from me at the bottom of the sea, from there I would command the Sea Serpent to bite them.

Now when the thousand years are finished, Satan will be released from his prisonand will go out to deceive the nations at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to bring them together for the battle. They are as numerous as the grains of sand in the sea.

Now after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one will be cut off and have nothing. As for the city and the sanctuary, the people of the coming prince will destroy them. But his end will come speedily like a flood. Until the end of the war that has been decreed there will be destruction.

they will pick up snakes with their hands, and whatever poison they drink will not harm them; they will place their hands on the sick and they will be well.”

When Paul had gathered a bundle of brushwood and was putting it on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat and fastened itself on his hand.When the local people saw the creature hanging from Paul’s hand, they said to one another,“ No doubt this man is a murderer! Although he has escaped from the sea, Justice herself has not allowed him to live!”However, Paul shook the creature off into the fire and suffered no harm.But they were expecting that he was going to swell up or suddenly drop dead. So after they had waited a long time and had seen nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said he was a god.
