Again she conceived, and when she gave birth to a son she said,“ Now at last my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” So he was named Levi.

She became pregnant again. She had a son. Then she said,“ Now at last my husband will value me. I have had three sons by him.” So the boy was named Levi.

Again she conceived and bore a son, and said,“ Now this time my husband will be attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore his name was called Levi.

Then she became pregnant a third time and gave birth to another son. He was named Levi, for she said,“ Surely this time my husband will feel affection for me, since I have given him three sons!”

She conceived again, gave birth to a son, and said,“ At last, my husband will become attached to me because I have borne three sons for him.” Therefore he was named Levi.

And she conceived again and gave birth to a son, and said,“ Now this time my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore he was named Levi.

She conceived again and bore a son, and said,“ Now this time my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore his name was called Levi.

And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have borne him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi.

She conceived again, gave birth to a son, and said,“ At last, my husband will become attached to me because I have borne three sons for him.” Therefore he was named Levi.

She became pregnant again and had another son. She said,“ Now this time my husband will show me affection, because I have given birth to three sons for him.” That is why he was named Levi.

摩西就站在營門中說：『誰屬永恆主的、都要到我這裏來』；於是利未的子孫都聚攏到他那裏。他對他們說：『永恆主以色列的上帝這麼說：「你們各人要把自己的刀佩在大腿邊，在營中來回地走，從這大門到那大門；各人要殺他的弟兄、他的同伴、和鄰近的人。」』利未人的子孫照摩西的話去行；那一天之內人民中倒斃的、約有三千人。摩西說：『今天你們授聖職與自己歸永恆主了，因為各人犧牲了自己的兒子或弟兄，好使今天有祝福給予你們。』

西緬和利未是弟兄；他們的刀劍是強暴之器械。我的心哪，不要進入他們的議會；我的肝腸啊，不要參加他們的集團；因為他們氣忿忿地殺人，任意砍斷牛腿大筋；他們的忿怒可咒詛，因為很猛烈；他們的暴怒可咒詛，因為很嚴厲：我必使他們分居於雅各家；使他們散住在以色列。

你也要帶你的族弟兄、利未支派的人、你祖宗族派的人、和你一同走近前來，叫他們跟你聯合而伺候你；只是你和你兒子們要和你一同在法櫃的帳棚前供職。他們要守盡你的職守、和全帳棚的職守，只是聖所的器具和祭壇、你們卻不可走近，免得他們死亡、連你們也和他們都死亡。他們要和你聯合，要守盡會棚的職守，辦理帳棚的一切事務；一切非利未族的平常人都不可走近你們。

到了第三天，眾人還在疼痛的時候，雅各的兩個兒子，底拿的哥哥，西緬和利未，各拿刀劍，泰然自若地來到那城，把所有的男丁都殺了。

論利未是說：『永恆主啊，你的土明烏陵都在你堅貞之士那裏；你在瑪撒曾試驗他，你對米利巴水的事、曾和他爭論。對他自己的父母利未是說：我沒有看見；他的弟兄、他不承認，他的兒女、他不認識；因為利未人謹守你說的話，你的約他們恪守着。他們必將你的典章指教雅各，將你的律法指教以色列；他們必使燻祭的香氣升到你面前，把全燔祭放在你的祭壇上。

有一個利未家的人去娶了一個利未的女子。

利未的兒子革順、哥轄、米拉利；

利亞的兒子是雅各的長子如便，還有西緬、利未、猶大、以薩迦、西布倫。
