她又再度怀孕，生了一个儿子，就说：“这次我丈夫一定会依恋我，因为我给他生了三个儿子。”于是，他给孩子取名叫利未。

她又怀孕生子，起名叫利未，说：“我给丈夫生了三个儿子，他必与我联合。”

她又怀孕生子，说：“我给丈夫生了三个儿子，现在，这次他必亲近我了。”因此，雅各给他起名叫利未。

Again she conceived, and when she gave birth to a son she said,“ Now at last my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” So he was named Levi.

She became pregnant again. She had a son. Then she said,“ Now at last my husband will value me. I have had three sons by him.” So the boy was named Levi.

Again she conceived and bore a son, and said,“ Now this time my husband will be attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore his name was called Levi.

Then she became pregnant a third time and gave birth to another son. He was named Levi, for she said,“ Surely this time my husband will feel affection for me, since I have given him three sons!”

She conceived again, gave birth to a son, and said,“ At last, my husband will become attached to me because I have borne three sons for him.” Therefore he was named Levi.

And she conceived again and gave birth to a son, and said,“ Now this time my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore he was named Levi.

She conceived again and bore a son, and said,“ Now this time my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore his name was called Levi.

And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have borne him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi.

便站在营门口对会众说：“凡跟从耶和华的，都站到我这边来。”所有的利未人都聚集到摩西身边。摩西对他们说：“以色列的上帝耶和华这样说，‘你们各人带着刀，从这个门到那个门，走遍整个营，不论遇见的是兄弟、伙伴还是邻居，只管杀他们。’”利未人便照摩西的话去做。那一天，约有三千人被杀。摩西对利未人说：“今天你们已经把自己奉献给耶和华了，因为你们大义灭亲，祂必赐福给你们。”

“西缅和利未串通一气，依仗刀剑，残暴不仁。我的灵啊，不要与他们同谋。我的心啊，不要与他们联合。他们泄愤杀人，随意砍断牛腿的筋。他们狂暴凶残，该受咒诅！我要使他们分散在雅各的子孙中，散居在以色列各地。

你和你儿子在安放约柜的圣幕供职时，要把你们利未支派的亲族也一同带去，让他们协助你。他们要遵守你的吩咐，看守整个圣幕，但不可接近圣所的器具和祭坛，以免他们和你们都死亡。他们要协助你，负责看守圣幕，办理圣幕的一切事务。外人不可靠近。

到了第三天，他们伤口正疼痛的时候，雅各的两个儿子——底娜的哥哥西缅和利未拿着利剑，乘众人没有防备，潜入城中，杀掉了所有的男子，

摩西祝福利未支派说：“耶和华啊，求你把土明和乌陵赐给虔诚的利未人，你曾经在玛撒试验他们，在米利巴泉边与他们争论。为了听从你的话，遵守你的约，他们不畏冒犯父母，舍弃弟兄，抛下儿女。他们把你的典章传授给雅各，把你的律法传授给以色列；他们要把香献在你面前，把全牲燔祭献在你的坛上。

有一个利未族人跟他同族的女子结婚。

利未的儿子是革顺、哥辖和米拉利。

利亚生了雅各的长子吕便、西缅、利未、犹大、以萨迦和西布伦。
