When the Lord saw that Leah was not loved, he enabled her to conceive, but Rachel remained childless.

The Lord saw that Jacob didn’t love Leah as much as he loved Rachel. So he let Leah have children. But Rachel wasn’t able to have children.

When the Lord saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb, but Rachel was barren.

When the Lord saw that Leah was unloved, he enabled her to have children, but Rachel could not conceive.

The Lord indeed visited Hannah, and she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters. And the boy Samuel grew up before the Lord.

Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.

Then God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her and opened her womb.

Now when Rachel saw that she had not borne Jacob any children, she became jealous of her sister; and she said to Jacob,“ Give me children, or else I am going to die.”Then Jacob’s anger burned against Rachel, and he said,“ Am I in the place of God, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?”

For this boy I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my request which I asked of Him.

So Jacob had relations with Rachel also, and indeed he loved Rachel more than Leah, and he served with Laban for another seven years.

And the Lord said,“ I have certainly seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their outcry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings.

Isaac prayed to the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was unable to have children; and the Lord answered him, and his wife Rebekah conceived.

It came about in due time, after Hannah had conceived, that she gave birth to a son; and she named him Samuel, saying,“ Because I have asked for him of the Lord.”

And there was a man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was infertile and had not given birth to any children.Then the angel of the Lord appeared to the woman and said to her,“ Behold now, you are infertile and have not given birth; but you will conceive and give birth to a son.

For the Lord had completely closed all the wombs of the household of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife.Then the Lord took note of Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had promised.So Sarah conceived and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the appointed time of which God had spoken to him.

The one who loves his life loses it, and the one who hates his life in this world will keep it to eternal life.

but to Hannah he would give a double portion, because he loved Hannah, but the Lord had closed her womb.

And yet they had no child, because Elizabeth was infertile, and they were both advanced in years.
