When Esau heard his father’s words, he wailed loudly and bitterly. He said to his father,“ Bless me too, my father!”

When Esau heard his father’s words, he burst out with a loud and bitter cry and said to his father,“ Bless me— me too, my father!”

Esau heard his father’s words. Then he yelled loudly and bitterly. He said to his father,“ Bless me! Bless me too, my father!”

As soon as Esau heard the words of his father, he cried out with an exceedingly great and bitter cry and said to his father,“ Bless me, even me also, O my father!”

However, because I called but you refused to listen, because I stretched out my hand but no one paid attention,because you neglected all my advice, and did not comply with my rebuke,so I myself will laugh when disaster strikes you, I will mock when what you dread comes,when what you dread comes like a whirlwind, and disaster strikes you like a devastating storm, when distressing trouble comes on you.Then they will call to me, but I will not answer; they will diligently seek me, but they will not find me.

“ Exert every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, then you will stand outside and start to knock on the door and beg him,‘ Lord, let us in!’ But he will answer you,‘ I don’t know where you come from.’Then you will begin to say,‘ We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’But he will reply,‘ I don’t know where you come from! Go away from me, all you evildoers!’There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God but you yourselves thrown out.

A person’s folly subverts his way, and his heart rages against the LORD.

Then David and the men who were with him wept loudly until they could weep no more.
