你們知道，後來他想繼承祝福，卻被棄絕了，雖然他流著淚水尋求，還是找不到悔改的機會。

所以他們將吃盡自己行為的果實，飽嘗自己計謀的後果。

既然我呼喚了，你們拒絕，我伸出了手，沒有人留心，你們忽視了我一切的勸告，也沒有接受我的責備；那麼，你們遭難時，我就譏笑；你們的恐懼臨到時，我就嘲笑——那時，恐懼像風暴那樣臨到，災難像旋風那樣來臨，患難和困苦臨到你們身上。那時，他們將呼求我，我卻不回應；他們將切切尋找我，卻找不到。

「你們要為進窄門而爭戰，因為我告訴你們：將有許多人想要進去，卻是不能。等到那家的主人起來關了門，你們才開始站在外面敲門，說：『主啊，請給我們開門！』主人就會回答你們，說：『我不知道你們是從哪裡來的。』那時你們就開始說：『我們曾經在你面前吃過、喝過，你也曾經在我們的大街上教導過！』他要對你們說：『我不知道你們是從哪裡來的。離開我，你們所有不義的工人！』當你們看見亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各和所有的先知在神的國裡，而你們卻被丟在外面的時候，在那裡將有哀哭和切齒。

人的愚妄傾覆自己的道路，他的心卻對耶和華惱怒。

大衛和隨同他的人就放聲大哭，直哭到沒有力氣。
