大家就一樣地推辭。頭一個對他說：「我買了一塊田地，必須出去看看；求你准我辭。」另一個說：「我買了五對牛，要去試試；求你准我辭。」又另一個說：「我剛娶了妻，故此不能去」。

但是你看，人倒歡躍喜樂，宰牛殺羊，喫肉喝酒，說：『只管喫喝吧！因為明天我們就死了！』

我，我於是稱讚喜樂；因為人在日光之下莫如喫喝喜樂；儘上帝在日光之下所賜給他的一生年日、這必在他的勞碌中時刻伴着他。

永恆主吩咐我說：『要把人所給你估價的高貴價銀投入銀庫』。我便將那三十錠銀子投在永恆主殿中銀庫裏。

「藐視的人哪，你們要看，要希奇，要滅沒！因為當你們的日子、我作一件事，若有人向你們詳敘了，你們也總不信的！」』

免得有嫖妓或做男倡的、或凡俗的、像以掃，他為了一碗食品，就把自己的長子名分賣掉了。你們知道：就是後來他想要承受祝福，雖帶淚地尋求也被棄絕，尋不着改變心意之餘地。

他們竟棄絕了那可喜愛之地，不信上帝的話，

說：『你們願意給我甚麼，我就把他送交給你們？』他們就秤了三十錠銀子給他。

因為有許多人、就是我屢次告訴你們、如今竟流着眼淚告訴你們的：他們的行事為人、就是基督十字架的仇敵。他們的結局是滅亡；他們所事奉的神就是自己的肚子；他們所誇耀的是在於他們的羞恥；他們是意念着地上之事的人。

若按人的說法，我當日在以弗所跟野獸格鬥，那於我又有甚麼益處呢？死人如果不能得甦活起來，那『我們喫喫喝喝吧，因為明天就死了！』

那些人卻不理，走了：一個到自己的田地裏去，一個作他的生意去；
