Jacob said,“ Swear to me first.” He swore to him. He sold his birthright to Jacob.

雅各說：「你現在就向我起誓！」以掃就向他起誓，把自己長子的名份賣給了雅各。

雅各曰、先誓於我、以掃誓之、於是以其長子之業、鬻於雅各、

雅各曰、當與我誓、遂誓之、於是鬻其長子業於雅各。

雅各曰、今日當與我誓、以掃遂與之誓、於是以長子名分、鬻於雅各、

But Jacob said,“ Swear to me first.” So he swore an oath to him, selling his birthright to Jacob.

But Jacob said,“ First promise to sell me your rights.” So Esau promised to do it. He sold Jacob all the rights that belonged to him as the oldest son.

Jacob said,“ Swear to me now.” So he swore to him and sold his birthright to Jacob.

But Jacob said,“ First you must swear that your birthright is mine.” So Esau swore an oath, thereby selling all his rights as the firstborn to his brother, Jacob.

Jacob said,“ Swear to me first.” So he swore to Jacob and sold his birthright to him.

And Jacob said,“ First swear to me”; so he swore an oath to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob.

Then Jacob said,“ Swear to me as of this day.” So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob.

And Jacob said, Swear to me first; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

But Jacob said,“ Swear an oath to me now.” So Esau swore an oath to him and sold his birthright to Jacob.

lest there be any sexually immoral person, or profane person, like Esau, who sold his birthright for one meal.

For men indeed swear by a greater one, and in every dispute of theirs the oath is final for confirmation.

He said,“ Isn’t he rightly named Jacob? For he has supplanted me these two times. He took away my birthright. See, now he has taken away my blessing.” He said,“ Haven’t you reserved a blessing for me?”

Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all the members of his household, with his livestock, all his animals, and all his possessions, which he had gathered in the land of Canaan, and went into a land away from his brother Jacob.For their substance was too great for them to dwell together, and the land of their travels couldn’t bear them because of their livestock.

I will make you swear by Yahweh, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you shall not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I live.

He swore to her,“ Whatever you shall ask of me, I will give you, up to half of my kingdom.”
