This is what the LORD, the Holy One of Israel and its Maker, says:“ Ask me what is to happen to my sons, and instruct me about the work of my hands.

Sarai was unable to conceive; she did not have a child.

He had two wives, the first named Hannah and the second Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah was childless.

He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry for help and saves them.

I prayed for this boy, and since the LORD gave me what I asked him for,

But Abram said,“ Lord GOD, what can you give me, since I am childless and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?”Abram continued,“ Look, you have given me no offspring, so a slave born in my house will be my heir.”

Sons are indeed a heritage from the LORD, offspring, a reward.

But they had no children because Elizabeth could not conceive, and both of them were well along in years.

Making a vow, she pleaded,“ LORD of Armies, if you will take notice of your servant’s affliction, remember and not forget me, and give your servant a son, I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and his hair will never be cut.”
