設女不欲從爾、則此誓與爾無與、惟不可挈我子返於故鄉、

設女不欲來斯、則我使爾誓、與爾無與、惟不可歸我子於故土。

倘女不欲從爾、則此誓與爾無與、惟不可攜我子返故土、

If the woman is unwilling to come back with you, then you will be released from this oath of mine. Only do not take my son back there.”

The woman may not want to come back with you. If she doesn’t, you will be free from your promise. But don’t take my son back there.”

But if the woman is not willing to follow you, then you will be free from this oath of mine; only you must not take my son back there.”

The men said to her,“ We will be free from this oath you made us swear,unless, when we enter the land, you tie this scarlet cord to the window through which you let us down. Bring your father, mother, brothers, and all your father’s family into your house.If anyone goes out the doors of your house, his death will be his own fault, and we will be innocent. But if anyone with you in the house should be harmed, his death will be our fault.And if you report our mission, we are free from the oath you made us swear.”

But if her father prohibits her on the day he hears about it, none of her vows and none of the obligations she put herself under are binding. The LORD will release her because her father has prohibited her.

But if her husband prohibits her when he hears about it, he will cancel her vow that is binding or the rash commitment she herself made, and the LORD will release her.

You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

“ Brothers and fathers,” he replied,“ listen: The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he settled in Haran,

but will go to my land and my family to take a wife for my son Isaac.”The servant said to him,“ Suppose the woman is unwilling to follow me to this land? Should I have your son go back to the land you came from?”Abraham answered him,“ Make sure that you don’t take my son back there.

This is how we will treat them: we will let them live, so that no wrath will fall on us because of the oath we swore to them.”
