“ The LORD, the God of heaven, who took me from my father’s house and the land of my relatives, promised me with a solemn oath,‘ To your descendants I will give this land.’ He will send his angel before you so that you may find a wife for my son from there.

“ The Lord, the God of heaven, who brought me out of my father’s household and my native land and who spoke to me and promised me on oath, saying,‘ To your offspring I will give this land’— he will send his angel before you so that you can get a wife for my son from there.

“ The Lord, the God of heaven, took me away from my father’s family. He brought me out of my own land. He made me a promise. He said,‘ I will give this land to your family after you.’ The Lord will send his angel ahead of you. So you will be able to get a wife for my son from there.

The LORD’s angel camps around the LORD’s loyal followers and delivers them.

Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to serve those who will inherit salvation?

I will send an angel before you, and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite.

I will give all the land that you see to you and your descendants forever.

I will instruct and teach you about how you should live. I will advise you as I look you in the eye.

That day the LORD made a covenant with Abram:“ To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates River–

“ I am going to send an angel before you to protect you as you journey and to bring you into the place that I have prepared.Take heed because of him, and obey his voice; do not rebel against him, for he will not pardon your transgressions, for my name is in him.But if you diligently obey him and do all that I command, then I will be an enemy to your enemies, and I will be an adversary to your adversaries.For my angel will go before you and bring you to the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, and I will destroy them completely.

You guide me by your wise advice, and then you will lead me to a position of honor.

Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel your servants, to whom you swore by yourself and told them,‘ I will multiply your descendants like the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken about I will give to your descendants, and they will inherit it forever.’”

In the days of those kings the God of heaven will raise up an everlasting kingdom that will not be destroyed and a kingdom that will not be left to another people. It will break in pieces and bring about the demise of all these kingdoms. But it will stand forever.

The LORD appeared to him that night and said,“ I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for the sake of my servant Abraham.”

‘ Because they have not followed me wholeheartedly, not one of the men twenty years old and upward who came from Egypt will see the land that I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,

and said,“‘ I solemnly swear by my own name,’ decrees the LORD,‘ that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son,I will indeed bless you, and I will greatly multiply your descendants so that they will be as countless as the stars in the sky or the grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the strongholds of their enemies.Because you have obeyed me, all the nations of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another using the name of your descendants.’”

Praise the LORD, you angels of his, you powerful warriors who carry out his decrees and obey his orders!

Now the LORD said to Abram,“ Go out from your country, your relatives, and your father’s household to the land that I will show you.Then I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you, and I will make your name great, so that you will exemplify divine blessing.I will bless those who bless you, but the one who treats you lightly I must curse, and all the families of the earth will bless one another by your name.”So Abram left, just as the LORD had told him to do, and Lot went with him.( Now Abram was 75 years old when he departed from Haran.)And Abram took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, and all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Haran, and they left for the land of Canaan. They entered the land of Canaan.Abram traveled through the land as far as the oak tree of Moreh at Shechem.( At that time the Canaanites were in the land.)The LORD appeared to Abram and said,“ To your descendants I will give this land.” So Abram built an altar there to the LORD, who had appeared to him.

Just then a major earthquake took place and a tenth of the city collapsed; seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.

Through all that they suffered, he suffered too. The messenger sent from his very presence delivered them. In his love and mercy he protected them; he lifted them up and carried them throughout ancient times.

Be strong and brave! You must lead these people in the conquest of this land that I solemnly promised their ancestors I would hand over to them.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding.Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight.

‘ Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land that he swore to them, he killed them in the wilderness.’

When the LORD brings you to the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Hivites, and Jebusites, which he swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, then you will keep this ceremony in this month.

The LORD’s angelic messenger went up from Gilgal to Bokim. He said,“ I brought you up from Egypt and led you into the land I had solemnly promised to give to your ancestors. I said,‘ I will never break my agreement with you,

By faith he lived as a foreigner in the promised land as though it were a foreign country, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, who were fellow heirs of the same promise.

Then the LORD said to him,“ This is the land I promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob when I said,‘ I will give it to your descendants.’ I have let you see it, but you will not cross over there.”

He said to them,“ I am a Hebrew! And I worship the LORD, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land.”

Stay in this land. Then I will be with you and will bless you, for I will give all these lands to you and to your descendants, and I will fulfill the solemn promise I made to your father Abraham.I will multiply your descendants so they will be as numerous as the stars in the sky, and I will give them all these lands. All the nations of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another using the name of your descendants.

He did not give any of it to him for an inheritance, not even a foot of ground, yet God promised to give it to him as his possession, and to his descendants after him, even though Abraham as yet had no child.

You will by no means enter into the land where I swore to settle you. The only exceptions are Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.

Look! I have already given the land to you. Go, occupy the territory that I, the LORD, promised to give to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and to their descendants.”

I will give the whole land of Canaan– the land where you are now residing– to you and your descendants after you as a permanent possession. I will be their God.”

“ Thus says King Cyrus of Persia:“‘ The LORD God of heaven has given me all the kingdoms of the earth. He has instructed me to build a temple for him in Jerusalem, which is in Judah.
