“ The Lord, the God of heaven, who brought me out of my father’s household and my native land and who spoke to me and promised me on oath, saying,‘ To your offspring I will give this land’— he will send his angel before you so that you can get a wife for my son from there.

“ The Lord, the God of heaven, took me away from my father’s family. He brought me out of my own land. He made me a promise. He said,‘ I will give this land to your family after you.’ The Lord will send his angel ahead of you. So you will be able to get a wife for my son from there.

耶和華的使者在敬畏耶和華的人四圍紮營，搭救他們。

難道所有的天使不都是服事的靈、奉差派服事那些將要繼承救恩的人嗎？

你所看見的一切地，我都必賜給你和你的後裔，直到永遠。

我要使你明達，指示你當走的道路；我要指教你，我的目光在你身上。

就在那一天，耶和華與亞伯蘭立約，說：「我已經把這地賜給你的後裔，從埃及河直到幼發拉底大河，

你以你的謀略引導我，以後必接我到榮耀裡。

「這些君王年間，天上的神必立起一個永不毀滅的國度，這國度不會交給別的民族，卻會砸碎、終結所有這些國，而它會存到永遠，

那天夜裡，耶和華向他顯現，說：「我是你父親亞伯拉罕的神；你不要害怕，因為我與你同在。我要因我僕人亞伯拉罕的緣故祝福你，並使你的後裔增多。」

說：「耶和華宣告：我指著自己起誓，你既然做了這事，沒有留下你的兒子，就是你的獨生子，我必定大大祝福你，使你的後裔大大增多，如同天上的星辰、海邊的沙粒；你的後裔必占有仇敵的城門。地上萬國都必因你的後裔而蒙福，因為你聽從了我的話。」

你們作他天使的，就是大有能力、聽從他命令、遵行他話語的，都要頌讚耶和華！

耶和華對亞伯蘭說：「你當離開你的本土、本族、父家，往我將要指示你的地去。我要使你成為一個大國，我要祝福你，使你的名為大；你也必成為別人的祝福！祝福你的，我要祝福他；詛咒你的，我要詛咒他。地上萬族都必因你而蒙福。」亞伯蘭就照著耶和華吩咐他的去了，羅得也與他同去。亞伯蘭從哈蘭出來的時候年七十五歲。亞伯蘭帶著他的妻子撒萊和他兄弟的兒子羅得，以及他們積蓄的一切財物和他們在哈蘭所得的人，一同出來，往迦南地去。最後他們來到了迦南地。亞伯蘭在那地穿行，直到示劍地區，到摩利的橡樹那裡。當時迦南人就在那地。耶和華向亞伯蘭顯現，說：「我必把這地賜給你的後裔。」亞伯蘭就在那裡為向他顯現的耶和華築了一座祭壇。

就在那時刻，發生了大地震，那城的十分之一倒塌了，在地震中死去的有七千人。其餘的人都感到害怕，把榮耀歸給天上的神。

他在他們的一切患難中也受患難，並且他面前的使者拯救了他們。他以自己的愛和憐恤救贖了他們，在古時所有的日子裡舉起他們、背負他們。

你要全心依靠耶和華，不要依賴自己的悟性；在你一切的道路上，都要認定他，他就會修直你的路。

因著信，他做為外人客居在應許之地，住在帳幕裡，與同一個應許的共同繼承人以撒、雅各一樣，

約拿對他們說：「我是希伯來人；我敬畏耶和華天上的神；他就是造了海和陸地的那一位。」

你要寄居在這地，我必與你同在，並祝福你，因為我必把所有這些地都賜給你和你的後裔；我必確立我向你父親亞伯拉罕所起的誓。我必使你的後裔增多，如同天上的星辰，我必把所有這些地都賜給你的後裔；地上萬國都必因你的後裔而蒙福，

在這裡，神並沒有賜給他繼業，連立足的地方也沒有。可是神應許要把這地賜給他和他的後裔為業。當時，亞伯拉罕還沒有孩子。

我必把你現在的寄居之地，就是迦南全地，賜給你和你的後裔作永遠的產業；我也必作他們的神。」
