My master made me swear an oath. He said,‘ You must not acquire a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I am living,

我主人叫我起誓说：‘不要为我儿子娶我所居住的迦南地的女子为妻。

主人要我起誓，他说，‘你不可以给我的儿子娶迦南女子为妻，

我主人要我起誓，说：‘你不可从我现在居住的迦南地中，为我的儿子娶迦南的女子为妻。

我主人要我起誓，说：‘你不可从我所住的迦南人之地，为我的儿子娶他们的女儿为妻；

我主人叫我起誓說：『你不要為我兒子娶迦南地的女子為妻。

我主人叫我起誓說：『不要為我兒子娶我所居住的迦南地的女子為妻。

我主人叫我起誓說：『不要為我兒子娶我所居住的迦南地的女子為妻。

主人要我起誓，他說，『你不可以給我的兒子娶迦南女子為妻，

我主人要我起誓，說：‘你不可從我現在居住的迦南地中，為我的兒子娶迦南的女子為妻。

我主人叫我起誓說：「我住在迦南人之地；你不要從迦南人的女子中給我兒子娶妻，

我主人要我起誓，說：『你不可從我所住的迦南人之地，為我的兒子娶他們的女兒為妻；

吾主令我誓曰、余居迦南、勿娶其女、為我子婦、

主令我誓云、我居迦南、其地之女、勿妻吾子。

主人令我誓云、毋為我子娶我所居迦南地之女為妻、或作我居迦南地毋為我子娶其地之女為妻

And my master made me swear an oath, and said,‘ You must not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I live,

My master made me promise him. He said,‘ I’m living in the land of the people of Canaan. But promise me that you won’t get a wife for my son from their daughters.

My master made me swear, saying,‘ You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell,

And my master made me take an oath. He said,‘ Do not allow my son to marry one of these local Canaanite women.

My master put me under this oath:‘ You will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites in whose land I live

My master made me swear, saying,‘ You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I live;

Now my master made me swear, saying,‘ You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell;

And my master made me swear, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell:

My master put me under this oath:‘ You will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites in whose land I live

And my master made me swear, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell:

My master made me swear, saying,‘ You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I live,

Now when these things had been completed, the leaders approached me and said,“ The people of Israel, the priests, and the Levites have not separated themselves from the local residents who practice detestable things similar to those of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.Indeed, they have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy race has become intermingled with the local residents. Worse still, the leaders and the officials have been at the forefront of all of this!”When I heard this report, I tore my tunic and my robe and ripped out some of the hair from my head and beard. Then I sat down, quite devastated.

Abraham said to his servant, the senior one in his household who was in charge of everything he had,“ Put your hand under my thighso that I may make you solemnly promise by the LORD, the God of heaven and the God of the earth: You must not acquire a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I am living.You must go instead to my country and to my relatives to find a wife for my son Isaac.”The servant asked him,“ What if the woman is not willing to come back with me to this land? Must I then take your son back to the land from which you came?”“ Be careful never to take my son back there!” Abraham told him.“ The LORD, the God of heaven, who took me from my father’s house and the land of my relatives, promised me with a solemn oath,‘ To your descendants I will give this land.’ He will send his angel before you so that you may find a wife for my son from there.But if the woman is not willing to come back with you, you will be free from this oath of mine. But you must not take my son back there!”So the servant placed his hand under the thigh of his master Abraham and gave his solemn promise he would carry out his wishes.

Then Rebekah said to Isaac,“ I am deeply depressed because of these daughters of Heth. If Jacob were to marry one of these daughters of Heth who live in this land, I would want to die!”

the sons of God saw that the daughters of humankind were beautiful. Thus they took wives for themselves from any they chose.
