My master made me swear, saying,‘ You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I live;

我主人要我起誓，說：‘你不可從我現在居住的迦南地中，為我的兒子娶迦南的女子為妻。

主令我誓云、我居迦南、其地之女、勿妻吾子。

主人令我誓云、毋為我子娶我所居迦南地之女為妻、或作我居迦南地毋為我子娶其地之女為妻

And my master made me swear an oath, and said,‘ You must not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I live,

My master made me promise him. He said,‘ I’m living in the land of the people of Canaan. But promise me that you won’t get a wife for my son from their daughters.

My master made me swear, saying,‘ You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell,

And my master made me take an oath. He said,‘ Do not allow my son to marry one of these local Canaanite women.

My master put me under this oath:‘ You will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites in whose land I live

Now my master made me swear, saying,‘ You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell;

And my master made me swear, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell:

My master put me under this oath:‘ You will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites in whose land I live

And my master made me swear, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell:

My master made me swear an oath. He said,‘ You must not acquire a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I am living,

My master made me swear, saying,‘ You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I live,

Now when these things had been completed, the officials approached me, saying,“ The people of Israel and the priests and the Levites have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands, as to their abominations, those of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.For they have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy race has intermingled with the peoples of the lands; indeed, the hands of the officials and the leaders have taken the lead in this unfaithfulness.”When I heard about this matter, I tore my garment and my robe, and pulled out some of the hair from my head and my beard, and sat down appalled.

Abraham said to his servant, the oldest of his household who was in charge of all that he owned,“ Please place your hand under my thigh,and I will make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I live;but you will go to my country and to my relatives, and take a wife for my son Isaac.”The servant said to him,“ Suppose the woman is not willing to follow me to this land; should I take your son back to the land from where you came?”Then Abraham said to him,“ Beware that you do not take my son back there!The Lord, the God of heaven, who took me from my father’s house and from the land of my birth, and who spoke to me and who swore to me, saying,‘ To your descendants I will give this land’— He will send His angel ahead of you, and you will take a wife for my son from there.But if the woman is not willing to follow you, then you will be free of this oath of mine; only do not take my son back there.”So the servant placed his hand under the thigh of his master Abraham, and swore to him concerning this matter.

And Rebekah said to Isaac,“ I am tired of living because of the daughters of Heth; if Jacob takes a wife from the daughters of Heth like these from the daughters of the land, what good will my life be to me?”

that the sons of God saw that the daughters of mankind were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose.
