一天，亞比米勒帶著他的參謀亞戶撒、將領非各從基拉耳來見以撒。

他們來到巴蘭曠野的加低斯向摩西、亞倫和以色列全體會眾彙報，把當地的果子給大家看。

因為在荀曠野，在加低斯的米利巴泉旁，你和亞倫對我不忠，沒有在以色列人中尊我為聖。

掃羅攻打亞瑪力人，從哈腓拉直打到埃及東面的書珥，

但我們呼求耶和華，祂就垂聽了我們的聲音，差遣天使把我們領出埃及。現在我們來到你邊境的加低斯城，

「我們照我們上帝耶和華的吩咐，從何烈山出發，走過你們所見的那大而可怕的曠野，前往亞摩利山區，來到加低斯·巴尼亞。

亞撒率領軍隊乘勝追擊，直追到基拉耳。古實人在耶和華和祂的軍兵面前大敗，傷亡慘重，一蹶不振。猶大人擄走了許多財物，攻陷了基拉耳四周的城邑，因為這些城裡的人都懼怕耶和華。他們洗劫各城，因為城中有大量財物。

亞伯蘭帶著妻子、侄兒羅得和所有的一切離開埃及去南地。

然後，他們返回安·密巴，即加低斯，征服了亞瑪力全境以及住在哈洗遜·他瑪的亞摩利人。

震動曠野，震動加低斯的曠野。

基拉耳的牧人與以撒的牧人爭吵起來，都說：「這口井是我們的。」於是，以撒便稱那口井為埃色。

那時，以撒住在南地，他剛從庇耳·拉海·萊回來。
