Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth and no plant had yet sprung up, for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no one to work the ground,

At that time, bushes had not yet appeared on the earth. Plants had not started to grow. The Lord God had not sent rain on the earth. And there was no one to farm the land.

When no bush of the field was yet in the land and no small plant of the field had yet sprung up— for the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground,

neither wild plants nor grains were growing on the earth. For the Lord God had not yet sent rain to water the earth, and there were no people to cultivate the soil.

耶和華神就驅逐他出伊甸園，使他耕種土地，他原是從土地裏被取出來的。

她又生了該隱的弟弟亞伯。亞伯是牧羊的；該隱是耕地的。

神說：「地要長出植物，就是含種子的五穀菜蔬，和會結果子、果子裏有種子的樹，在地上各從其類。」事就這樣成了。於是地長出了植物：含種子的五穀菜蔬，各從其類；會結果子、果子裏有種子的樹，各從其類。神看為好的。

就如一塊田地吸收過屢次下的雨水，生長蔬菜，合乎耕種的人用，就從神得福。

你耕種土地，它不再給你效力；你必流離飄蕩在地上。」

他使草生長，給牲畜吃，使菜蔬生長，供給人用，使人從地裏得食物，

這樣，你們就可以作天父的兒女了。因為他叫太陽照好人，也照壞人；降雨給義人，也給不義的人。

外邦虛無的神明中有能降雨的嗎？天能自降甘霖嗎？耶和華－我們的神啊，不是你嗎？我們要等候你，因為這一切都是你所造的。

使雨降在無人之地，在無人居住的曠野，使荒廢淒涼之地得以豐足，青草得以生長？「雨有父親嗎？露珠是誰生的呢？

他使雲霧從地極上騰，造電隨雨而閃，從倉庫中吹出風來。

他降雨在地面，賜水於田野。

你眷顧地，降雨使地大大肥沃。神的河滿了水；你這樣澆灌了地，好為人預備五穀。你澆透地的犁溝，潤澤犁脊，降甘霖，使地鬆軟；其中生長的，蒙你賜福。你以恩惠為年歲的冠冕，你的路徑都滴下油脂，
