在耶和華看來，所多瑪人是罪大惡極的。

不可隨眾行惡，不可在訴訟的事上隨眾說歪曲正義的話；

因為他們不行惡，就不能入睡；不使人跌倒，就要失眠。

耶和華說：“控告所多瑪和蛾摩拉的聲音甚大，他們的罪惡極重。

他們雙手善於作惡，官長和審判官都要求報酬；達官貴人說出心裡的慾望；他們歪曲了一切。

為了殺人流血，他們的腳步飛快，

以色列全體會眾在曠野都向摩西和亞倫發怨言；

先知說假預言，祭司憑己意把持權柄。我的子民竟喜愛這樣，到了結局你們怎麼辦呢？”

圖謀惡事的心、快跑行惡的腳、

祭司長和長老慫恿群眾，叫他們去要求釋放巴拉巴，除掉耶穌。總督問他們：“這兩個人，你們要我給你們釋放哪一個？”他們說：“巴拉巴！”彼拉多對他們說：“那麼，我怎樣處置那稱為基督的耶穌呢？”他們齊聲說：“把他釘十字架！”彼拉多說：“為甚麼呢？他作了甚麼惡事呢？”眾人更加大聲喊叫：“把他釘十字架！”彼拉多見無濟於事，反會引起騷動，就拿水在群眾面前洗手，說：“流這人的血，與我無關，你們自己負責吧。”群眾回答：“流他的血的責任，歸在我們和我們子孫的身上吧。”

“你們去走遍耶路撒冷的街道，到處觀察留意，又在城的廣場上尋覓；如果能找到一個行正義、求誠實的人，我就赦免這城。城裡的人雖然指著永活的耶和華起誓，其實，他們起的誓是假的。”耶和華啊！你的眼目不是要看誠實的事嗎？你擊打他們，他們卻不覺得傷痛；你摧毀他們，他們仍不肯接受管教。他們板著臉，臉皮比磐石還硬，總不肯回轉。我說：“這些人只是貧窮小民，為人愚昧；他們不曉得耶和華的道路，也不明白他們神的法則。我要親自去見那些權貴領袖，跟他們談談；因為他們曉得耶和華的道路，也明白他們神的法則。”誰知他們竟一起把軛折斷，掙脫繩索。因此，獅子必從林中出來襲擊他們，曠野的豺狼要殺害他們，豹子在他們的城邊窺伺，出城的都必被撕碎；因為他們的過犯眾多，背道的事也無法數算。
